My 1990 MR2 GT
Hey Guys,
Ive been reading the forum for about 6 months and just became a member.
I bought a 3SGE as a runabout. I have been looking ever since for a GT to upgrade to and finally bought one.
I am in the process of transferring various parts off my old one to the GT. Once that is complete I am keen to look at some performance mods and a little bit of bodywork.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Thanks. Yeah Im pretty sure non MR2 guys wouldnt know the difference
Sadly I will have to get rid of the NA to make space for the mrs' car. We have 2 young boys so need one 4 seater car at least. I did suggest that we just drive 2 MR2s around

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
So far, Ive transferred my wheels and a bunch of parts over from the 3S-GE.
Im now getting on top of maintenance, and then will look into a boost controller setup.

Looking really nice. Like the choice of wheels and condition of the paint.

Thanks, I was lucky to get the wheels with my NZ. They are 16" Work Equips. Great look on an MR2.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
It's a very nice GT. Good to see some up that way. They seem quite rare in Central Otago.
They are the wheels Toyota used on the TRD 2000GT. Work Equip Alumi K. Very special at least in my eyes.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Yes I havent seen any other turbos for sure. a couple of NA's
Wow thats cool. They certainly suit it. was the TRD 2000GT running 16"s? I sometimes wonder whether 17" would look better...

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Same wheel model but not the same size. The TRD2000GT had 17x7+12 with 215/40R17 and 17x8.5+7 with 245/40R17Twisties wrote:Yes I havent seen any other turbos for sure. a couple of NA's

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Replacing the front left wing. Paint is a pretty good match, but I havent seen it in sunlight yet. Will probably need a full respray at somepoint as the paint is getting quite thin.
Sleepy!

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
I just sold the 3SGE MR2. great car but I'm sure its gone to a good home.
Before I let it go I swapped the gear shift mechanism as I preferred the feel of the 3SGE lever.
I recently fitted an Alpine Bluetooth headunit which is pretty cool. Just a basic model, but a big upgrade as I can now stream wirelessly.
I have an old amp I hope to hook up to the factory sub. I will use the LPF to hopefully get a rounder sound and to take some pressure off the component speakers in the doors.
I am having trouble finding a set of igition leads. I ordered a set of NGKs from the stated. Fingures crossed that they fit
I have an Apexi AVCR to install and along with a Greddy boost cut eliminator to fit. Currently just extending the loom for the AVCR. T-VSV is still not kicking in. Car runs well and no engine lights so I dont think there is a knock issue. Temperatures should be within the right range and again, nothing to suggest a sensor failure. Hoping to get the multimeter onto the T-VSV and figure out if it actually works before disabling it and installing the boost controller. Not keen to force more boost if the engine is not 100% happy.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
A few good mods going in. The bluetooth headunit is something I am really keen on but a new one is quite expensive.
What's different about your old 3SGE lever than the 3SGTE lever?
