I get my tyres at firestone on Kahikatea Drive. They are the first ones I have used in Hamilton where I haven't had a problem. The guy there is very nice and will let you know when Bridgestone have the 4 for 3 deal going.

Re: Jabeo's 1992 MR2 GT
sold my daily today now i am on the hunt for a new one, a civic or a blacktop ae111 levin even
I took a look at my throttle cables today as there is a bit of slack in the gas pedal before the throttle engages. it is not a huge amount but it is enough to annoy me, where i cant practise a little heel toe while i drive it around. The pedal itself has no upward play, only downwards. I have adjusted the cable to max on the throttle body, but no success. i have opened up the cruise control cable intersection to see what adjustments can be made
I will adjust the nuts in the top picture first, and then have a go at the nuts in the second to see if that helps. If nothing works i will go to the pedal under the dash and see if i cant add a spacer to tighten the cable itself at the pedal. Hopefully doing this will give some better throttle response.
While i was poking around in the engine bay i noticed some coolant underneath the temp gauge sender, on top of the transmission and i am not sure what to make of it. The car has never overheated since ive owned it, but some days the temp gauge does not even work and some days it will, and when it does it seems the temp is below half. I am still thinking this might be to do with the thermostat maybe getting stuck, but cant confirm until i have time to get stuck into it and give the components a proper pull apart. I am not sure what to make of this

Re: Jabeo's 1992 MR2 GT
That coolant leak looks more like its coming from the neck above rather than temp sender. Could be pooling around connection which causes your gauge to malfunction.
The coolant necks tend to corrode internally. If you remove be prepared to clean it up properly and install new O ring.

This, get the Toyota one for $5 because it's an odd shape. The exact same thing happened to my old SWBenckj wrote:The coolant necks tend to corrode internally. If you remove be prepared to clean it up properly and install new O ring.

So today was mail day! Heres a sneak peek of the photos and posts that are yet to come.
Bought these from MR2 ben in the UK, after calculating overall nzd cost after conversion, which was cheapest here. Shipping was $20 through youshop which was great

Re: Jabeo's 1992 MR2 GT
today i bought a new daily driver, it needs a bit of work to bring it up to my standard in terms of looks and performance but thats all part of the process to becoming more mechanically minded so i can apply those skills to my SW took advantage of the nice shooting locations on the property that i live on today. Im yet to get out and take some comparisons and an install of my new lights, side markers and new drivers side vent delete which will hopefully come soon. Here are some nice photos i took that i like

Re: Jabeo's 1992 MR2 GT
Havent been too active on here in a while, as i havent made any spectacular progress on the mr2. After getting my civic i been spending most of my time tidying it up and preparing for an engine swap. Parts have been readily available and are much easier to find, so i have been spending a lot of time learning about engines and working on the honda. Much to everyones dislike, i really enjoy hondas, they are very simple and fun to drive. Learning about my civic will be very helpful for learning wiring and removing and stripping down an engine. Which will be the case when i do a full engine service on the mr2 etc.
For any one who cares, here is my thread on the nzhondas page: https://nzhondas.com/topic/186421-my-fi ... ek3-civic/
The mr2 has been stationary for a while due to the bad weather but yesterday i took the car out to my first day as an intern at a local ISP. this is part of my last semester before i graduate. I also caught photos of the car hitting 99999 kms and then finally 100,000kms! very happy and very proud of my car

Nice man! What a milestone
I've actually been thinking about replacing my daily (2003 Nissan Maxima 3L) with something a bit more economical, and thinking about a civic too

Re: Jabeo's 1992 MR2 GT
i picked up a 1.5L sohc and its soooooo good on gas and for its weight its a pretty zippy car, but im swapping in a 1.5L vtec with 130 hp so its about 20-30hp more zippier than the current engine lolSpykerwolf wrote:Nice man! What a milestone
