Got the transmission back. Just to confirm for anyone searching, the 5th gear swap worked fine according to the rebuilders 33036-32030 and 33428-320-40 definitely fit my 1991 s54. The quaife also fit perfectly.

Hopefully I can get the engine back in this weekend.

Engine installed, whitelines installed, eibach installed. Car runs great. Needs a hard break in otherwise going well. Clutch pedal needed adjustment with the bolt behind, I could barely get into gear.

The only issue is a tiny bit of transmission fluid on the lower point of the bellhousing. I won't be especially happy if the input shaft seal is leaking after the rebuild. 5th gear is now 2750rpm at 100km/hr.

Finally got around to doing the clutch clevis installation. I think I have had it for almost 3 years on the shelf. I used the recommended by twosrus and mr2oc 31/64" drill bit (12.3mm) which I happened to already have. I don't have a drill press but I sandwiched and clamped it between two pieces of wood for a drill guide. I got a perfect hole. I would say their recommendation is not the best. I would try 12mm first. There is a touch of play with the bearing against the new hole.

Anyway simple install. I just took the pedal out. I don't know why people take out the whole pedal assembly. There is just one electrical connector in the way of getting the single bolt to come out the side (seen behind the sping in the 3rd picture). Undo the connector and take the plug off the metal bracket. There is also a thin metal clip over the top which can be bend 3-4mm forward to give the clearance needed and then the pedal just falls out onto your head. I lubed up everything with the supplied lube.

Measure the centre of the old clevis pin to the end of the threaded portion of the slave rod to get it approximately back to where it was with the new clevis.

I used one from CRW which doesn’t look as refined as yours. Didn’t need to drill out hole so left pedal in place and installed insitue. Worked a treat even though mine wasn’t very worn to begin with. Just started to get squeaky.

This was CRW design but I think they made a few revisions over the years. I think the earliest ones had smaller roller bearings that would fit in the stock ~10mm hole. Mine was a bit squeaky but I was also amazed at the minimal wear, it was only just starting to rub through the very surface of the pin. The USA guys have horrendously worn pins, I saw one that was worn over half way through!

That looks good!! There is meant to be a little bit of play in the pedal anyway.

This is one of the mods I want to do eventually. And a brake cylinder mater stopper. Keep us posted on how it drives vs the pin.

I must have had the earlier version as it did have some sort of bush or bearing. Solved the squeaky pedal, all the same.

Drives great, I didn't notice any squeaking but the car is pretty loud and rattles heaps anyway. Clutch feels great and goes into gear fine.

I got t-boned at a roundabout last week (not my fault). Insurance has written the car off but I am keeping it for parts. Pretty gutting after all the work. I also have new wheels arriving from Japan this week. Will be on the lookout for a new mr2 I guess.

I got t-boned at a roundabout last week (not my fault). Insurance has written the car off but I am keeping it for parts. Pretty gutting after all the work. I also have new wheels arriving from Japan this week. Will be on the lookout for a new mr2 I guess.

Thanks guys. I will be back with another one. Prices have at least doubled or tripled since I last bought any car
