Finished...ish and back on the road! Just need to check the coolant one more time. I have a very small fuel leak at the end of the rail where the block off cap is. I will replace the crush washer and see if that helps.

Otherwise hot idle is 1500rpm which isn't ideal. I haven't adjusted the throttle screw so it should be the same as before. New manifold to head gasket was used, new throttle body gasket used. All NPT fittings sealed with goop. All vacuum ports closed with brand new toyota rubber bungs. I didn't use clamps on most of the hoses but they were very tight fitting.

I had a new idle up pipe made to clear the valve cover but again it was a very tight fit. Otherwise I rotated the A/C idle up valve 90 degrees and took the feed from the old vacuum port for the valve cover. No idea, maybe I need to get it smoke tested.

Small update, the car is driving perfectly. There feels like an increase in low and mid range torque which is the opposite of what I was expecting with a larger plenum. Top end feels a bit better too. I honestly thought I would be screwing the power band up completely in N\A form but it's awesome. The intake kit probably helps heaps too. Apart from a quiet whooshing noise it I don't see any negatives to it, I was concerned it might be loud and annoying.

Now to get the turbo sump installed and find an intercooler kit. The exhaust desperately needs a "restriction" added to quieten it down.

For the turbo on the previous page... all of these mods are in preparation for turbocharging. The walbro, new fuel system, intake manifold to work with an off the shelf intercooler kit, the intake is designed for the CT20/26, the water neck/tree will allow easy turbo coolant lines.

Next is fit intercooler, shroud and fan, the cold pipe will need some minor modification for the idle up and IAT sensor, add turbo sump with 10AN fitting and cap, omori boost gauge, get a downpipe to have on hand. Remaining N/A the whole time means I can keep driving the car while still making progress. It should be somewhat quick in the end to simply bolt up the manifold/turbo, connect oil, water, intercooler lines and drive to the shop with some 668cc injectors in hand and come home with a link installed.

Got ya. Forgot you were leading up to forced induction. I should go back to start and read your build pages.
Quite unique to be running a project with these steps.

Finally replaced my exhaust mounts today. They were pretty fkd. You can see one of them is permanently about 1cm off centre (same part number both sides). Hopefully this is what was causing my clunking in reverse. The metal exhaust hanger was touching the side of the mount.

Some good quality welding from a local exhaust shop. I guess that will need to be fixed before WOF time.

Dyno day,- good, bad and kind of crap. So the pulls were great. It made great power considering the mods. Nice flat torque curve- looks like a win for the intake + manifold. The HKS silencer was removed. Pulls almost to redline. AFR's are spot on despite changing most of the fuel system which is awesome. The bad news is the alternator belt jumped a rib and forced the A/C belt to shred itself and fall out of the car. Extra crap is that the catch can installed one tank of petrol ago is half full already.... yay recondition time.

My car really doesn't want to go on the east cape trip. I might just top up the transmission and hope for the best.

Never a dull moment with this car. I noticed my brake lights didn't go off when I was filling up at BP. Sure enough on the carpet was a small exploded plastic thing. I put a short M6 bolt and nut through the hole in the pedal bracket as a temporary measure.

Otherwise stupid brake pedal cushion rubber thing that exploded today for the tail light switch is part number 9054106032.

Small update again, car is off the road once more. 11.8v isn't the same as 14.4v, thanks alternator. Toyota (denso) don't make them any longer so the dealer is ordering an aftermarket brand that they use when denso is not available. I will try and get the original one rebuilt as a spare. Luckily the battery tested perfectly.

Boost gauge installed last week. This week was oil pan replacement with a turbo one so I have a drain fitting.
