Pommies new project SWGT

Post by pommy »

Got some new rubber for the sw today.

235x40x17 rear
215x40x17 fronts
Nankang NS20

Had these on my last mr2 & M3 very good tyre. I wanted the new AS2 but they don't offer 215x40's in Nankang.

Now just waiting for my Radiator to turn up....

That makes me feel better you have said that! As I still can't say I am totally sold on them....from the black.

However they are growing on me & once lowered might just look that bit better. I was trying to go for a more JDM look.

they are Avanti 2018 Osaka Lighweight 7.9's allround.

Installed new front slotted rotors & pads today. Ready for Clubfest!

Didn't have time to clean & paint the calipers, also purchased braided lines to go on....but ran out of time! I'm off to Aussie for work next week.

Pommies swgt update

Post by pommy »

Today I installed some new springs. (Well some off trade me for now)
Also installed new anti roll bar links what a difference in size.

Went to change the intercooler piping silicone hose from blue to black.....and think I found my boost leak! A nice size hole in the pipe hhmmm. Could this be the start of another copper pipe intercooler build!!

After putting that aside for now, I thought I would check the shaft play in the turbo & I was very pleased to see it had zero play & blades look healthy.

I made a start on my leaking slave....but looks a mission so had a beer & will do some research.

Oh, I also decided I would run my black wheels again, I think it suits the red & black trim more.

Both are factory fitment but the skinny ones are GEN1 stuff. You can see they are bent, quite common.

chief1eye wrote:Awesome! Great to have you back again. Had a look at buying your old car but turbo was blown, guy was going to call me when fixed but never did. So not sure where it ended up?
It ended up in or around Mt. Roskill with a student last time I checked. It had a LOT more than a blown turbo. Main seals were toast and it was blowing white smoke so bad I wondered if it even had a head gasket to begin with. I walked away from it. Not sure if it changed hands since.
