So second hand tierod came in. Looks like it came off a supercharged model 85-86. I was sure mine was mk1a but sure confused as to what I need. Will be spending some time in SAS office today in New Plymouth. The long one is mine the short one is the part I grabed.

For reference purposes the longer tie rod is the mk1a 85-85 and the shorter one is mk1b 87-89.

After search for the past 3 months I have found the following tie rod options:
- Second hand : nearly impossible
- UK Second hand : 86pounds (0.42 conversion rate)
- NZ engineered brand new units : 600+ for a pair
- US aftermarket : 175usd 30nzd shipping

Looks like im going with US aftermarket (matrix garage or twosRus) will update again after I decide.

You'll have to ask nicely, but I think Malcolm did this or something similar for Charlie once, for what is now my car.

If your middle section is still straight then go ask BNT, George Stock, SAS, or Autolign to find you a tie rod end that matches. From memory, the tie rods (ends ?) are shared with some E8X corollas. If a matching or similar end can't be found, you could "reconfigure" the knuckle to accept one with a bigger ball-joint end. IDK if that requires a cert or if some racing bodies allow it.

many hours have been spent crawling through databases and even consulting engineers, the main problem the the thread length and that fact that everyone has swapped to female.

Bugger :(

The only other suggestion I have that you might have already tried is using threaded rod so that you can use a female tie rod end.

was told that would require certification, I have a bonus due in start of next month and I will grab a us aftermarket set.

 our cert system isn't perfect. Sorry, that's the only other idea I could come up with :(

Well you'll have some extra shiny bits.

Another option but even more horribly expensive https://mr2-ben.co.uk/products/1230
