Picked up another toy today....
20210205_113325(0).jpg
Running, driving, WOF, Rego, rust free, straight, leather/power seats, wood grain interior, 260,000k's and all for less than some people are asking for just a long block alone on trade me!
Yup, it will be torn apart for the spare V6 Turbo Engine.
And a few other spares.

Anyone want parts??

Hey,

wot?

😜

Yup it's been awhile! 😁
The Camry is long dead and gone now. Kinda looks like this...
20210421_201924.jpg
She cleans up alright aye... πŸ˜‰

I gapped some rings to handle some more boost.
20210403_114848.jpg
And also started work on the water/meth system. Not a fan of plastic bottles for performance parts. So I made some.... covers? I guess..
20210422_163616.jpg
And the AEM pump mounting bracket.
No box of beers in the boot now!! 😱🍻

I also made a BOV block off plate. And will be adding a heater circuit again. Basically just to add more cooling for the track with a motorcycle radiator in the side vent.
Via this monstrosity.

Yes, that's a bunch of bolts uga duga'd into the old sensor ports! 🀣🀣

Needless to say a bunch of things are going to the powdercoater next week! 🀣

So, new engine preped ready to go back in. With gapped rings. Now including heater lines for my secondary MC Radiator for extra cooling. 🀞🏻 It's enough...
IMG_20210610_114409_158.jpg
Water meth system starting to be installed. I changed the bottle case a bit second time around. Very happy with it!
20210606_121859.jpg
And why when you spot a little rust on a AW does it so easily turn into a major. Started to scuff away some paint around a rust spot where the trunk floor spot welds in. Nek Minit, I have to take off all the seam sealer, treat and prime. The entire strip of spot welds. This is the second instance I have found rust developing under primer, paint, sealer etc with no exposed metal. Which seems to have started from factory and just been covered?
ADub life!

Now just some mods/repairs to the exhaust this weekend. And getting some exhaust heat shields and mounting/ducting for the MC Radiator made up and we can put the engine back in. Then back to the dyno! :D

So I just bought 2 new vehicles for the company/possible future engine swaps 🀣
20210629_135824.jpg
Man I see why it's a popular swap. They got some stank even in a big SUV. Or maybe I've just been driving a Hilux too long? πŸ€”

Oh, and back on topic....
Engine is back in.
20210624_144047.jpg
And I made a mounting plate for the motorcycle radiator and fan in the side vent.
20210619_152108.jpg
I also bought some toys.
20210701_214151.jpg
I couldn't find any in NZ. Been searching for years. So I paid stupid money and got them from overseas. Freight sucked but got a bunch to offset it a bit.
I did plan on selling some if people wanted to waste good money like me. But am now having second thoughts.
Anyway, thought I'd post a few pics as a teaser.

I also wired up the AEM water/meth status light. Of course it made sense to reuse the supercharger light as that doesn't get used for anything anymore.
20210720_165621.jpg
And now it's nice and in my face. I'm sure this would have been done before, it's perfect! :D

So cars all running, I've been tweaking things myself and so far so good!
I've scared some ladies (as you do)

Unfortunately the water meth softens the rev limiter a bit under boost. Less pops and bangs
But still makes a racket when not under load...

I have also painted my air scoops...

20210814_121138.jpg
I painted up one of my matchbox AW11's 😁

I'm itching for a decent drive and was about to organise a burger night and tunnel run... level 4, duh!! 😭

Well the most resent update is I've put some decent K's on the new engine now out of lockdown, also given it a hard time and everything's running great. Not sure how much I mentioned before without rereading the thread. Basically we were running perhaps a bit much boost for the stock cast pistons. And they would crack the ringlands after awhile. Apparently just gapping the rings to 28thou is the fix for this. Which I did. But also added water/meth injection for cooling only as an extra. Only Hick up I have had is I replaced the IC water pump switch and wired it wrong. Not realising until 1.5hrs into a hot sunny drive that my IATs were around 65C. Usually no more than 45C. (And low 30s on boost thanks to water meth) Soon discovered the issue and got the pump running again. Happy that it went that long before it got that bad and that we had no major failures as a result. The drags were a success mechanicly also. However not physically as I suffered dislocated shoulder problems from over excited forceful shifting (shoulders been a problem for awhile, waiting on surgery) Only other issue was a lot more wheelspin than I find I have on the street. Unexpected. But will tackle that next season post surgery.

Meanwhile, now I have a completed spare gapped, ARP'd, MLS'd, powdercoated long block in my shed thanks to lockdown.
20211102_230502.jpg
The next thing on the list for the ADub is body and brakes.

I'll start with fixing up the rough front bumper. And fitting my new aerotech lip.
20220116_113056.jpg
Paint them myself for now, save for a professional job and decide what accessories/kits/scoops, panels etc I keep or remove first.

Brakes: I'm looking for some recommendations so will start another thread for this.

Caught up! :D
