That's pretty cool! Do you really need spares if they work? Those other gaskets aren't really that good. Never use them on a downpipe our you will just blow them apart right away.
Probably not. They can be reused and even the guy that made them said he won't see me again. But I'll still get some spares because if I do want to change one or lose one I won't have to wait a week for new ones to be made. And they are cheap enough! :D

That's good news. What's the material between the copper plates?

Not actually sure, some sort of heat resistant dense foam. The guy mentioned it but I don't remember the name. He asked my exhaust temps because apparently there is another stuff they use for real high temps in drag cars etc that costs way more. I'm sure this will be fine for me though.

Alright, funny story.....
So exhaust leak fixed. Cars running properly again now... and .... guess what!!
20201119_103100.jpg
ANOTHER LEAK!!!

This bugger starts leaking!!
This is the connection for the heater pipe. I made a block off plate years ago. Never had an issue before. And of course its in a prick of a place!

Anyway....
Sorted that now!
New coolant, rebleed, again!
X2 thrash sessions around the back roads and all the fluids stayed in! OMG!!
It even seemed to stay cooler under high load. Maybe I've got better at bleeding it!

So I'll start going for longer and longer drives and hopefully I've worked out all the bugs 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤣

Continuing to collect spares....
That's the good thing about halving you projects, not just more time, but more money! To focus on the ones you have left.
And it's still fun having car parts arrive even if they just go on a shelf for now.
20210114_163335.jpg

I now have a storage bin full of seals.
20210112_130133.jpg
20210110_090437.jpg

And got myself a spare ECU. Sent them both away and had the set up and tune mirrored. Might be helpful for future diagnosis also.
20210112_130149.jpg

Only just noticed, but love the sneaky extras on the board...
20201222_124859.jpg

BTW I'm keen to get my hands on a spare (or 2) 3VZ long block also.
If anyone has one they wish to sell?? :D

I got a new thing!!
And arrived just in time for Toyota Fest! :D
I wasn't sure about it at first, but I do like it now it's on.

Painted gloss black at this stage. But I think that kind of works due to the black trim around it. In two minds whether I bother painting it body colour....? 🤔

Project number 3, Mud Buggy!!

Not MR2 though, sorry :D
Not an MR2 (But close 4WD cousin) update for those interested.
Now looks like this...
20210201_112810.jpg
Used the cage, harnesses, and seats out of my MR2 parts car.
I also just picked up a bunch of parts to try my hand at rebuilding a 3VZ on the side to later swap into it

Looks a lot more user friendly!! You should probably have a think about adding some cross-bracing from the harness bar up to the top cross bar as there isn't really anything to stop the whole top lot above the harness bar going sideways in roll over. Even one bar from the bottom left of the "windscreen" to the top right would be a help and wouldn't really impact on your 360deg vision.....

I see, this could be valuable advice.
Just so I'm clear though could you draw something on the picture? I think you offered 2 different suggestions?
Perhaps PM it to me also to save hijacking this thread too much more?
Cheers! :D

Now, back on to MR2 related goodies.
Now that I am down to just 2 project cars and the Rav Buggy is nearly finished it's time to start thinking about winter mods for the AW....

20210203_133610.jpg
:D :D
I think I also mentioned before I'm going to put together another spare Turbo 3VZ for the AW as well as building another or 2 long blocks from scratch for the Rav/etc from just bits and peices I have lying around. (I think I have enough....)
