Positive or negative, it did get a lot of attention!
Plus photographers pages I've seen so far have 1 or 2 pictures of each car. Then like 7 of mine!
Not bad for a low budget NA SW

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
While the #1 child is on the hoist the #2 gets some... TLC?
Again life is getting busy so this is just a teaser. If you want more detail etc just ask... So I got a new "rusty" steering wheel. Jacked the engine lid up, not so much for cooling just because it looks better. Tacky bumper installed (goes with the theme I feel ) Along with tacky drift style bumper quick releases. (Actually practical here because I knock the bumper on everything it's so low. And these are basicly the only things holding it on. So it can move a bit without ripping off! ) And what else? Oh, a rusty "HYBRID" badge. Because it burns petrol and oil!!

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
Gotta have a rusty coat hanger aerial!
And new seats fitted on (slightly modified) stock adjustable rails.
Next task is a crazy custom exhaust and modified rear bumper. But that may have to wait cause I really need to stop wasting time on this junk....
and get the V6 Turbo ADub finished!! (Damn distractions) '89 AW11 V6 Turbo (350BHP & 380Ft/lbs!)

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
Looking good.
If you don't mind me asking, I was looking at getting some of those bucket seats.
How comfortable are they?
And
How did you "slightly" modify them to fit the stock rails, is it still WOF able?

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
I actually only drove it for the first time today. Seats are comfy yes. As far as bucket seats go they probably have too much cushioning? Compared to others. They do sit a bit higher so if you struggle to fit in your car perhaps best not to. I still have room above my head, but noticed my windscreen visor is now a bit low and in the way.THR4SHER007 wrote:Looking good.

Also if you have a missus with a big diff she may not fit? It's snug for me. I would say they are small - medium?
Warrentable? No. You need a cert for new seats. I'm not spending that kind of money on this build. So will just take them out and fit the factory seats twice a year. Would my modified rails pass a cert? Possibly? My last set for my AW did. Unfortunately in my excitement I didn't take pictures of them fully welded, drilled or painted. Sorry.. But tacked pictures below. Basicly you can grind and punch out all the rivets for the seat brackets except the seat belt bracket (which I just trimmed and shaped to only be just what I needed) the bolt holes under the seat almost perfectly line up with the old rivet holes. I just slotted a couple. I used Allen bolts from the top slide rail into the seat which do not foul and the slides still work well. Then you can bolt the outerside straight in the car. And the inner side is about 25mm off the bolt holes in the chassis. So I welded on some plate to space them out and drilled new holes. It sounds simple. But at times I had wished I just paid the extra for after market mounts haha!

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
And I tell a lie. I can't stop tinkering!
My "rEaL" Bride material arrived today (from China, ssh) So had to modify my door cards to tie up the interior. Still needs a clean, sorry....
AW gets the treatment next though for sure!!
I have Fuel and Oil filters and lines to run as well as intercooler pipes to fab. It's just been on the hoist for so long it's hard to get motivated on that car sometimes

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The "BLACKRAT" Sw20
Well unfortunately fate had to intervene to force me to tinker on the AW instead. In the form of starter motor fault and possible head gasket? Further investigation required. But no time soon for this junka!
So no up dates for a bit. It's now been shifted to the garage so I can actually use the hoist for the AW without this dead duck being in the way. To my wife's disgust!!
