The clear did take away form the rawness of it a bit. But it would run everywhere and make a mess otherwise. And it does look far better in person and in the light. You can see the textures and different shades etc. I tried to show this with the badge picture which gets a bit closer. I am sure you will get a chance to see in in the flesh soon.

The LWSP is blue which is why some call it Smurf blood. I think the Superlight Weight is yellow or orange. ATF like Jim suggests is quite often red.Mr-Paulio wrote:Was hoping it was redline (never seen it, assumed it might be red?)Benckj wrote:Looks like ATF which some of the manual box’s run on.
You wouldn't run this thick oil in an S54 as they don't like it. My S54 runs Castrol VMX 75 and it's thin as when cold but based on the fact it has no W for cold it must stay the same when hot. It's light brown. Shifts fine with updated linkage bushes and a 92+ lever.

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The RED Sw20
I did some things....
More rust.... More rod....
Plus we were well over due for some new front rotors. You can't really see on the pictures, but we had some massive gouging and they were quite thin. The 2 pot calipers stop way better now!
And then there was remaking the butchered temporary intake I did to fix the broken "donkey dick" (what my mechanic friend calls it) For those interested I'll break it down... (disclamer, This most likely won't give you more HP. Or better filtration. But it does sound cool)
I bought these bits from STA in Auckland. Prices to follow.... 3"-2.5" reducer silicone join x1 $10.53
3" 45° ali pipe x1 $25.63
3" 45° silicone bend x1 $31.39 (ignore the straight joiner in the picture, this didn't work for me, but could. More details later)
3" straight ail pipe x1 $19.57
Hose clamp T-bolt 2.5" x1 $3.34
Hose clamp T-bolt 3" x5 $3.66 each
Pod filter, already had $0
Total spend $108.76 Excuse all the dust. Have been playing in the gravel lately
Now you do also have to drill some holes in the 45° for the ICV and temperature sensor. Easy enough. I used a spare threaded barb and tapped this into the hole for the ICV. For the temp sensor I just drilled a hole the same size as the one in the air box. Reused the gromet. And done. Now, I have shoved my filter down as far into the vent as I can. Note: this is not easy, you need to cut the mesh out. Pull bend and beat stuff out of the way. And you may loose some skin on your knuckles like I did! But I am happy with it.
And it is certainly more throaty and has louder intake noise like this. (Put the passenger window down!)
But for those not that keen on the hard work and lost skin to do this. You can still get it pretty close and this will be easier, and cheaper. Because you can use a straight join instead of a 45°. But you will probably need to trim one of the aluminum pipes to suit.
Have Fun!
...what's that? Where is my side vent?? Well, thats another post my friend!

Very neat and different idea with the paint job. Looks actually pretty cool, especially the front fenders. I think the hood could do with some more though!

Thanks, was a bit of fun and far cheaper than a full respray!4CylinderSpecial wrote:Very neat and different idea with the paint job. Looks actually pretty cool, especially the front fenders. I think the hood could do with some more though!
Yeah it is a bit of a work in progress. I started just using the rust paint to hide and work in with the damaged paint. Therefore not much on the front of the car. But I have started evolving it. I am also considering some matt black, zombie-ing (Mad Max-ing) it out a bit. Rather than just sporadic rust patches. hmmm..... #WatchThisSpace

Re: Another MR2... Another project. The RED Sw20
And I did another thing...
While I wait for parts and my friend to help fab my turbo exhaust on #1 child. I continue to have some fun with red car. (#2 child)
Replaced a common issue with these cars! I got sick of the flogged out supporting rod falling out while driving or dropping the lid on me while I was in the engine bay!
Now I won't put up all the details because I believe this could be done better and I am sure the instructions for that are available somewhere if you look. Obviously this gas strut is too short to be ideal. But I use what I have lying around and make it work. And it does. I have to lift the engine lid half the way because of the short angle. But then the strut takes over lifts the last part and it holds the lid up strong and very straight. Giving plenty of unobstructed room for working in the engine bay.
So I am happy. (This is my happy face)
Plus I don't really want it springing up of its own accord as soon as I pull the release!
All that said...
If you do want some details let me know and I can help.

And another thing....
Side vent mod! I love the open look so hacked these up and played with fiberglass for the first time. A lot easier than expected. I won't write up on this much either. As with before, I'm sure there is plenty of info on the net. And probably better than mine. One word of advice though. Cut down, around the centre peice to cut it out. I cut across to have less to patch with the fiberglass. But in hindsight in doing so made more of a mess of the outside surface. Which means more body filler and more sanding to make it nice again! (And I hate sanding)

Nice work on the side vent mod, always like the look without the central splitter in there.

I like what you're doing, reminds me of a Japanese guy I used to follow on Instagram. His was matte baby blue lots of negative camber 10" wide wheels and no bumper on rear.
