The new heart of the rat...
And transmission for the AW

Well not much happening with this ATM. Getting the AW finished is #1 priority.
But a bit more insight to the plans.
I did some research on what I need to do the swap and think I have everything. Including the body harness to make things easy.
And Blitz Nur exhaust.
Also taken off and considering swapping the later model big brakes. And cross member and suspension parts.

The rest of my weekend devoted to the Rat. As all I can do on the AW atm is wiring, boring. And I told myself that will be easier when the engine is back in....
So, first up I sticker bombed. I kinda like this look but wouldn't want to do it on my AW. So it's perfect for the Rat. And turns out a friend bought me a sticker bomb pack for my birthday! (Along with some carbon ((rubber)) canards) So it had to be done! I couldn't decided on a panel though as they all look good with the rust and wear for different reasons. So I did this, this, this and this....
Next up turned my attention to the engine. Amazing the difference a clean makes.
The turbo has some play, pretty sure the sump leaks so I've pulled that off and given it a clean. Other than that the usual parts you replace all look pretty good. So I might be only doing plugs.
And time for some details!
The great thing about a rat style is I don't have to worry about tidying up the chipped cam cover, or rusty mounts like I normally would, and I'm sure most of you would. All I have to do is enhance the wear and tear!
So I rusted things up a bit more...
And played around with a few other details....

I got myself a hoodie for driving my SDUB with the T-tops off..... (Assuming it will be winter before it's going again...

Does anyone have one of these temp sensors from a gen2 3SGTE they would part with?
I found it broken on the donor engine. Pretty sure this didn't happen while removing the engine, was probably like that for awhile.

It's only the cold start injector time switch temp sensor. Not really a problem if it doesn't work.
Maybe swap Olafs good one for the dud one as it's only needed for sealing the coolant system on his GEN4 swap. That's only if it doesn't leak.

No doesn't leak. Just all the guts were pulled out. I pushed them back in. Could probably glue it and might still work. But thought it's safer to replace it while the engine is out. And the old NA doesnt have one that I can steal. Also hadn't looked up what it was yet. Knew it wasn't the temp gauge cause that's one wire on the other side. So that leaves this and the green one. I figured this was probably for the ECU? And previous owner thought it ran rich under boost. So I did wonder if it had something to do with this? But as I say, hadn't looked into what it was yet. Just figured I'd replace it anyway

Nah, it's only for cold start. Has nothing to do with running the engine or rich on boost. But GEN2 3SGTE run rich anyway....

So if it doesn't work I just have to rev it a bit when cold to keep it running?

No it's just for initial cranking and start up. It just adds extra full instead of using the primary injectors to do so. Once it's running it switches off. Sort of like trying to start a car with E85 in cold weather. But not as bad.
The NZ new GEN2 3SGE has a cold start injector just after the throttle body. Not sure if it has a sensor like this too but I suspect it does. The JDM one doesn't even though I'm sure it gets colder there than NZ.
