Looks like you got the mounting brackets on your gearbox, the turbo and NA ones are different. I'm keen to see your build progress, good luck!

Yeah I did realise that, the mounts themselves have a different part number from my understanding but the S54 ones work with the e153? Also any idea if that's an open or aftermarket lsd in there from the pictures?

The S54 mounts can be used but the mount in the rear of the box needs to be E153 specific. You can use the S54 rubber section on the cross member though. But you really want turbo mounts with urethane inserts or full urethane replacements for the rubber part if you are putting down that much power.
That's an early open diff. Can you find the gearbox number under the clutch fork boot? It won't tell you if it is LSD but it will tell you a build date. Considering almost half of all SW20s were GEN1 there are a lot of open diffs around.

All of chassis/crossmember sides of the mounts will fit. Yes you'll want to stiffen them though since there will be more torque and the E153 weighs a bit more

Well hasn't time flown by, i bet a lot of you are probely thinking it was all hype.

Unforntunitly life got in the way for a few months and had some unexpected things to pay for ( along with deciding to go through Europe for a month )

Alas i have some progress though

Here is the HUX racing cannibal kit to adapt the E153 to the K24, very comprehensive kit and i manged to score it ata heavily discounted rate off a guy in aussie who decided not to do the swap

I also purchased a K20a oil pump conversion kit, so the motor can handle some high rpm abuse and also a new oil pump is always a good thing. You can see the K20 oil pump has no balance shafts in it which is the main reason it can handle the high rpm.

Finally i got a RBC intake manifold and RBC cam gear This gear gives 50 degrees of "vtec" instead of the standard 25 on the K24a3 ( these are the top spec honda parts from the "k series" parts bin. )

As far as most of the bolt ons ( other than the turbo ) we are done. Next step is ordering pistons, rods and bearings.

As can be seen i've taken the first step, measured the bore and making sure its not out of round, all it needs is a hone and i can run OEM sized pistons

Why not get two of them? #b00stedboyz In all seriousness most likely leaning towards a 6262 on a PLM sidewinder or some s300 series BW.

Also forget to mention got my fuel pump and started to think of ideas for my fuel system, will be dropping the tank tonight and getting stuck into that.

At this stage though ill be buying internals this month and hopefully have the motor built and in the car by the end of the year.

Bit more progress on the car this week, lots of orders for parts have been placed with some arriving.

Start repainting and rebushing all the control arms and ordered some new ball joints for the arms.

Also sorted out the fuel pump set up which is good. Walbro 525LPH pump to a 8AN fuel bulk head fitting. cut up the factory feed which ill use as a return line.

Dropped the block off to the machine shop last week and expect to get it back sometime next week, also purchased my bearings, head studs and pistons this week which are coming from the states. Conrods have already shown up and hopefully by tuesday my valve springs and retainers will be here.

Also got hubs + a turbo axle from Christchurch parts as well just need a quick clean and paint. Not sure if i'll replace the wheel bearings while everything is apart. will have a think .

Another week another bit of progress. Picked up the block from the machine shop, bearings, and pistons have now been ordered as well as a bottom end gasket kit ( front/rear main seal, oil o rings) Must say they did an excellent job for a great price too.

Progress this week, got more stuck into the shell over the past few days.... and she was proper rotten, Also i kinda did some thinking and decided a t top would be nice. Fast forward a few days and this appearred in the garage.

The 3sge is well beyond repair and was driven from silverdale to block house bay with some SEVERE rod knock.... and this shell has no rust and is in great condition just need paint ( which i was going to do anyway)

so here she is

Already got my turbo engine cover on it!

Also started working on the head, manged to get most of the springs in, since i've gone for dual valve springs i had to change the base plates to a set of Skunk2 items, also added a set of viton stem seals to lock the cylinder head down.

look at the size and quality of the supertech stuff compared to OEM its insane.

i threw the IM and sat it on the block for a lookies, finished up all the ball joints a well this week, next up will be to rebuild and paint the brake calipers, and press my new bushings into the old existing engine mounts.

Anyone know the part numbers for a brake rebuild kit, the calipers are 93+ so the dual piston design

finally bearings arrived along with my headstuds and my pistons are currently in customs so all moving along quick now!

Update to keep this thread alive, bought some stuff which is sitting at youshop as we speak

also laid the tig out and decided to do some stuff, also go the valve cover and manifold painted.

Engine looking pretty good i feel

manged to get the bottom end all buttoned up, my clutch also came this week which was nice.

hopefully get my head gasket and head dowles soon an can put the head on for good.

Also over level 4 i gave the rusty old bay a freshen up with the spray gun, came out quite nice, i think ill do the boot next

Mounted up some Euro R recaros in the car, they fit quite nicely and i ( just) fit with a helmet on ( have to remove the t sop shades though )

Also sorted the front of the car out, Megan front adjustable control arms and cusco coilovers, new moog tie rod ends and manual converted rack.

Finally got a set of BBS RS's 17x8 17x9 +35 all around , i will refurb these but i was mocking up the fitment and god these are perfect wheels for the car.

Now i just need to wait for the manifold to come so i can mount this guy......

Again not updating my build thread for months.

As I am sure many of you can relate money has been bloody tight due to covid19 but hey gotta make progress one way on another and im sure business will pick up back to normal \


So the 3 month update... what have i done.

Manged to pick up an exhuast manifold from the states, was off a 1000hp 9 second RSX fully back purchased stainless equal length item. Very nice piece with a good Wastegate exit angle ( vert critical for sidewinder set ups.) also picked up a 45mm v band turbosmart wastegate for it ( still on its way from USA)

Next up was having to get a t3 to t4 adapter as the turbo is a t4 turbo and also i wanted to push the turbo out 2" to clear the water neck of the k series this is how she looks all mounted up

Got all my adapters for the oil line sin place too 1/4npt 90 degree up the top and a 1/2npt to 12an at the bottom. Bloody Borg use imperial for everything!!

Manged to pick up Delta V's brake kit for the fronts this allows you to run a supra tt front rotor using 93+ turbo brakes. Just need to buy rotors and pads and this brake set up is done! Using rebuilt 93 turbo calipers and braided lines. Going have to trim that dust shield a bit ( aka a lot) to make this fit.

Have had to repin a few connectors such as the reverse light connector, the k24 crank angle sensor and finally the starter signal wire, nothing to tricky though.

Got some fuel lines made up, as i dont trust myself making AN lines in such a pain in the arse location so left it to the experts, Using Aeroquip hose with full on crimped fittings, the guys who made this promised me they're tested to 3000psi, so they should handle some fuel.

Finally dropped off my wheels to the vapor blaster and then to the painter ( who is taking literally forever to paint these things... 9 weeks and counting...)

So yeah big progress since last update, shifter cables are in, one axle is in throttle body is on, as are the injectors, starting to mount the oil cooler and catch can. Make the oil return line and do a bit more wiring. Final pick of how the bay looks as of a week or two ago.

Very impressive, nice to see the engine swapped into West-East configuration. Always wondered why Toyota didn’t design this way.

The engine and gearbox is still the same way but modern engines, including Toyota have switched the intake and exhaust to opposite sides of the engine. Look at he 1ZZ and 2ZZ plus many more modern engines.

Honda did have the engine and gearbox 'backwards' (vs most manufactures) with the older engines like the B18C and so did Mitsubishi with the 4G63 so you could never RWD swap these engines as the car would go backwards because the engines spun the wrong way. The K series engines were put back to the way most cars are with the gearbox on the left, this is running an E153.
