Another month, bit more progress this month, did some more wiring, mounted up the wastegate sorted the rear calipers and got some front rotors all done.
Also built the wheels and put the 255's on the rear to get an idea of the sizing. looks like they will fit quite nicely ( may need a rear roll still )
got some clear side indicators too from the states, and also my first package from Poland came into.
See the pictures for more info. Starting to feel kinda real now.

Re: My sw20 build thread
Manged to finish up the IC piping and plumbing all a weekend ago, just need to run the water lines now.
I will be using a PLM heat exhanger up front which also showed up a few weeks ago...
Finished running my new 8an and 6an fuel lines and everything and was getting ready to put the tank back in the car when I saw some corrosion on the heater hoses.... i removed them and was greeted with some lovely holes....
I mate of mine who is a brazier by trade tried to sort them out and he just ended up burning right through them... bit stuck for solutions at the stage and i really want to get the tank in the car?
In other news, i got my wheels back finally, mounted them all up and shoved some old 255/40's on her just to see what it looked like. i think i'll need a spacer but damn it feels good to have her on the ground and roll ready

Re: My sw20 build thread
Impressive work!
For the heater pipe, I, like many others have had this exact crack. My solution was to cut out the section of pipe and the bracket, flare/attempt to bead roll with a pair pliers and insert a rubber hose in place of the bracket and pipe. I did this 10 years ago and no leaks. I don't have any photos of this.

Re: My sw20 build thread
Was my idea also, seems like a solid solution, added advantage i can remove that horrible 45 degree turn as thats not needed anymore and the pick up for my heater is at the rear ( under ) the intake manifold now so will make the process more direct. Hose wise are they 17mm or 19mm?GDII wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:49 amImpressive work!

Re: My sw20 build thread
I don't recall. I know I had a long piece of hose that I used a small bit to repair mine but forget the size. I'd say 19mm more than 17 but you are best to check yourself.Im6bl wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 9:02 pmWas my idea also, seems like a solid solution, added advantage i can remove that horrible 45 degree turn as thats not needed anymore and the pick up for my heater is at the rear ( under ) the intake manifold now so will make the process more direct. Re: My sw20 build thread
6 months later.... I am useless at
1. taking good pictures of what I am doing and 2. Actually updating this thread.
So since then I have sorted the fuel tank situation out. Bit the big bullet and got the RacerX fuel rail and installed that ( had to change the grounding solution as their one is 100% trash. )
You can also see i have got a new set of seats they're from a 2020 GT86 and i have the DK imports adaptors coming in the post now to get that all situated in there.
So engine bay is pretty mcuh sorted now, still need to plumb the engine with coolant and downpipe ( being made this month ) I have also purchased a axle back exhuast so hopefully in the next few weeks ill have a full exhaust system.
Got a new fancy upper coolant housing with a fill port to make life easy for me
I also purchased the Brains of the operation and got to wiring that in quick smart!
This whole setup replacing the fuse box in the engine bay and will retain most of the OEM operations the car does ( OIL pressure light, tacho CEL etc, The Emu black also has bluetooth so i can convert my new android headunit into a set of LCD gauges which is really nice.
Now after all of that wiring i decided i might and well trey and start her, So I filled it up with Royal purple break in oil and gave her a crank after testing all the outputs and map was roughly correct. And i can say honestly on first crank to start she fired with a level of excitement I hadn't heard in a while.

Mounted the heat exhanger up front then finished it off with Touge Factory shroud. Also finally sorted out the front brakes, Just waiting on my Stoptech 309 pads from the States to come in and the fronts are all wrapped up with the Delta V adaptors and supra rotors.
That brings us up to current time, I've set a goal to have the car run in by the end of May and hopefully on the road by summer so she can be enjoyed by all. ( many free rides to be handed out ) Let see if I can stick to it.

Re: My sw20 build thread
Bit more of a update on my little two.
Started fabbing up the downpipe to match up to the eBay catback ill be using. Managed to sort out radiator hoses using the swivel lower housing and a stock b18c rad hose for the top which oddly enough is the perfect shape and length. Put it on the ground for the first time to give the garage a good clean out and gave the car a clean outside. Weirdly enough i look the look of it on the evo 5 wheels. Wired up all 4 fars of the car to use the Ecu master black as its control path which is nice. Once again thanks touge engineering for the col shroud

Re: My sw20 build thread
Sorted the front of the car out wiring wise, used a waterproof distribution box to make the battery terminal less crowded. Works great and have room for more high power draw items if need be.
Started plugging all the new heater hoses and we ran into a bit of a snag..... any idea's on how to get this sorted.
It seems I now know why the heater was looped when I first got the car, it must have been more than just the lower coolant lines? anyone who's removed the heater box/ got it repaired please chime in.
I managed to get Thomas's old exhaust which ill just cut and modify to suit the K series downpipe, its really nice to see it looking like a real car now though
And finally an updated engine bay picture, not much left to go in there now, just wire in the oil temp/oil pressure sensor to the ecu, sort out the wideband in the downpipe and get power and ground to the I/c Pump
