"Build" thread for the Girlfriend's new car. I feel these imported Toyota's deserve build threads, as it's personally interesting to me how many different variations of very similar cars Toyota's have done over the years.

Unfortunately the girlfriend was involved in an accident over the long weekend. This happened on the same road we had just done a run on the weekend before, Makara Road in Wellington. She crossed the center line and had a head on crash with another car. She and the other driver are fine. Both cars are a write off, the gentleman's Mazda was far worse off than her Altezza. It was a 1gfe, and had attended a few of our runs. This is why I only wanted her in something as sturdy as a Toyota.

Here enters the replacement. A Toyota Carina with 166,000KM, 3sfe Auto. Basically, a 4 door Celica/Curren. Terrible body, terrible wheels and tyres, terrible floor mats. Great motor, great gearbox. A steal for $1,000 (won at auction via Trademe)

Will get some updates up as they come through. And better pictures of both the Carina and the Altezza once it's been retrieved.

Altezza is now at the wreckers, end of a story that one. Almost 50,000km put on in less than 2 years. Completely wrote off a very new Mazda CX-5 as well as itself

The Carina is great. Apart from its rough looks, she runs very well. Will be doing a headunit swap and most likely some new wheels soon. It reminds me very much of my old Curren, it seems to be very much a 4 door celica.

The radiators top pipe was leaking from the hose. I put on a new clamp and tightened it up. Seemed to fix it for a few weeks then it started leaking again. Tightened it some more and managed to completely break the pipe as it was just old and crappy. Got a new radiator, and with Purplesw20's help got the new one in Saturday. Only covered myself completely in coolant once, and my arm in auto fluid another once.
