Thanks for that, I have used a lot of those shops before. I presume NST is north shore toyota? I didn't realise they did such a huge range of aftermarket parts. I feel like I have half of the racerX catalogue, they have some great sales from time to time. Just ordered their intake today. I recognised your COP spacer immediately. Did you grab their whole kit with crank and cam sensors?

Well now, got her idling today with alot of help from Vaughan and a couple.mistakes from my part. Incorrect ignition timing thanks to a false mark on the pulley and no oil pressure due to the lines being cross. Doh, my bad.

So no she has idled and rattled her first few bolts loose. Tune with PBM has been booked for sept 1st which gibes me time to iron out this list of to do's

Cut and change the mounting of the wastegate pipe and have Funtoy Myler weld her up.

Bleed the BBK. And install handbrake cables.
Confirm i need doubler plates for the cert.

New sticky tyres for the rears 245 35 17s.

Tighten and locktite any bolt im not satisfied with, otherwise itll rattle out.

Install a oil press sensor for the.link ecu to read for failsafes in the tune.

Confirm mounting of the fuel lines as to pass cert.

Driveshaft stage 8 locks on.

Paint engine lid hinges and install along with new carbon lid :)

Ummmmmm tidy a few wiring pieces up.

Thinks thats the list which i have 5 weeks to get it done then fingers crossed she gets all the power. :)

Well, here we are at the end of March 2021 already,

Car past cert abiut 2 weeks ago, only needed a few small issues sorted and 1 major.

Seems the the ali bracket that comes with the wilheim BBK isnt strong enough to pass cert.

It literally bolts to the 2x m6 dust cover bolts on the hub and then the caliper bolts to that. Its only for the handbrake caliper but still a fail.

I enlisted the skills of Logan P. To design up and have a 8mm steel bracket made to tie the main caliper and parking brake caliper together.

And it bolted up perfect and flew through cert.

So went and got a wof yesterday, and a rego and 2Yoda is back on the road. Few hours later i was at the 2021 mr2 Agm 🤣.

Good fun, car absolutly hauls ass on the meth tune. Cant wait for the drags and some track time.

Awesome news!! M6 bolts aren't the strongest for brake component. Sure it's just for a parking braking but you rip on that while moving and it's going to put a lot of force through the bolts. I know, MR2 handbrakes are terrible and I wouldn't expect this aftermarket one to gip much better but you don't really want the caliper falling off. I've seen normal calipers fall off even with the big bolts. Just sheared the bolt in half.

Do you have any photos of the new bracket? Always cool to see custom stuff for these cars. 8)

Yeah mate, attached pic.

These wilwood parking brake caliper hold really well. And my driveway is bloody steep, still a cable operation obviously but feels way stronger.

That's good to hear they actually grab the rotor well.
I was expecting the bracket to look like this. Tidy design! How does this affect the main caliper spacing offset vs rotor if you've used the main bolts to mount it?

It bolts ontop of the caliper and i extended the bolts by 10mm to account for the thickness.

The caliper sits where it would without the bracket so no change.

So a little update

Cars been running and tuned since feb.... so im gonna tune it again... 🤣

Upgrading the turbo exhaust housing from 0.63 to 0.82ar,

Downpipe size from 3inch upto 3.5inch to help spooling.

Intercooler changed from mishimoto to a quality Plazmaman unit.

Injectors from fic 1000cc upto idx1340cc

Goal is 400kw at the wheels on meth injection. But we shall see. 😈

Hey Bro. I enjoyed reading this thread….and tbh i could use some info. Can you walk us thru how you wired your coils?

Where did you ground ur coils? Battery, head or chassis?
Was ur trigger 1 - igt and trigger 2- the pin above igt?

Was there a pink (w black stripe) wire in the trigger 2 pin prior to using it?

I don't have all the information for this exact build but here is some that might be useful.

Coils should be grounded to either the intake manifold or block next to where the ECU grounds and the original coil grounds. Do not ground them to the chassis or battery. Start grounding is the best way to do it.

If you are still talking about the triggers for the coils going from the new LINK ECU you actually run new wires to the auxiliary outputs for each coil. You wouldn't use the existing IGT for the single igniter unless you are going wasted spark.

Trigger 2 as you call it for coils is not used on aftermarket ECUs if you are using one. Toyota have 4 pin coils but the 4th pin acts as either IGF which is a feedback to the ECU telling the ECU the coil has fired or in some cases it is used for ion knock detection in the case of the GEN4 3SGTE.

Which coils are you using that have the pink with black wire?
