Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Well, update time.
Couldn't figure out why car was idling funny, quick-ish message to GDII to advise me on idle control valve removal and clean. And after more choice words I managed to remove and clean idle valve. And straight away it idled 12-1300 rpm when cold and slowly dropped when it warmed up.
Thanks Phill.
And today I finally changed the trans fluid and filter.
Had previously done fluid but done the whole thing now.
The filter was full of thick sludgey shit. The gasket on the filter was split into three pieces too.
Have a feeling that it was the original filter.
I started the car up afterwards and straight away noticed it was smoother in changing into gear.
Now I have to do engine mounts and get it rerego'd.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Ok, got front engine mount installed. I had a knocking noise when you rev it up. Found out the mount was knackered and the engine would clip the heatshield behind fuel tank.
Installed insert and engine doesn't move now. It did rock 2-3inchs each way, now its less than an inch.
Cost my mate some blood (again)
Car is all booked in at VTNZ for Wednesday.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
That's an insane amount of movement! Glad you got that sorted. Almost need new mounts PLUS the inserts.

New mounts had crossed my mind. Thankfully the inserts worked.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Is that the bracket that holds the rear bumper on? Mine looks to be fairly rusted up also as I noticed while cleaning behind the lights yesterday... might need to look into that.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Yea, it goes from the triangle reflector on rear lights all the way to other side. The whole damn thing is toast.

Ok, my failure list has been fixed apart from a structural cert. Trying to get this all tied up before HB run in two weeks.

Finally got some decent LEDs to install. Will take a couple of photos when I fire them in.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
It's been a while since I updated here. After the failed re-vin, I have been unable to book in for a repair cert as our local certifier is tapped out. So I have just been tidying things up here and there. You know, new plastic clips all over the car, and things of that nature. But the biggest thing I done was replace the headlights (sealed beams) with semi sealed units. They came with some bulbs of unknown brand or wattage.
But the one thing I do know is that they look four times brighter (my opinion).
So I can't wait to drive it at night.
I replaced one and flicked them on to check it out, and the sealed one couldn't even be seen.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Had a little play in the MR2 yesterday. Wound down the window, and the switch collapsed. So I removed it from the door and found out the bracket that holds the window switch in had broken. I had thankfully got a spare one a few months back. Mainly because the electric mirrors didn't work either. So I replaced the broken one with the spare, and found out the mirrors now work. They both retract and extend and the drivers moves in all directions, the passengers one only goes up and down though. But still, big improvement on no movement at all.

Re: Creepie's MR2 Restore
Had a play with the interior lights.
Fired in some LED panels.
Before And, After.
I was trying it out everytime I done something and I couldn't figure out why the two buttons were not working, ol' dumbass here forgot that the two buttons are grounded. So once I remembered that, I put it all together and, DAMN it is bright.
