So I went to the dyno again today to up the boost for more power, and it didn't happen. Bumped it up to 12 psi and still got 160 kw. The graphs were identical apart from the boost pressure, so as Mike (the tuner) has told me the turbo is already at it's limit on 10 psi. So it looks like a compressor upgrade is now on the to-do list (Garrett GTX2867 compressor wheel) .

I recorded a bunch of videos from a recent street sprint in New Plymouth. I found the handling to be pretty neutral, but I guess I wasn't pushing hard enough to find the understeer. This run was the third one and the most fun to drive :D.

That does look like a lot of fun. Well done getting the turbo engine in and wiring it up.

Well nothing for now. Once I start earning a bunch of money, then a turbo upgrade and a full 3 inch exhaust will follow, along with a retune.

That was the first event I have done with semi slick tyres (Toyo R888), so I was still learning where the limits were. That run put me in 5th in D class out of 12, and I beat a bunch of drift cars too. I dropped to 7th in D class on the last run, two cars beat me by less than a second. I'm completely stoked with this result though :D.

The car had it's annual wash just before the street sprint, so I took some pictures while it was still clean.

Finally got stung at the testing station for a sticking front left brake caliper, and it's been on my todo list since I acquired these brakes, so I finally rebuilt them. I read CJ's guide a couple of times to familiarise myself with the basic process.

Front left caliper. One of the pistons was nearly seized, lucky I did it now rather than later.

New seals in.

Did the dust cover seals as well.

Ready to go back together. I swapped one pad over from the other side from advice given from my mechanic.

Front right.

Did the dust seals as well.

The seized caliper took about two and a half hours. The other three were a cakewalk, I did three calipers in four hours 8) .

Also I got 4 near new tyres, some of Toyos best street rubber.

I competed in a 1/4 mile event put on by the Taranaki Car Club on Saturday (23rd of November). Car went alright, my two best runs were 14.32 and 14.33 at about 145km/h. I'm pretty happy with that, and ironically the first run was the fastest (usually the faster times are towards the end of the day). I also got to take pureadrenalin's racecar for one run, did a 13.37 at about 160km/h. He managed a best of 13.03, with a passenger too  . I guess it's all in the launch.

So I finally got round to pulling the sump off to clean up the sludge.

Then I chucked it back on with some high temp RTV. While the RTV was setting I decided to use some metal polish on my mags to try and get rid of some black build up.

It actually turned out quite well.

Looks great from a distance.

Cool videos. How fast are you going on some of the straights? Quite hard to tell.
Looks like a lot of fun.

I'm hitting about 135km/h, not really sure as I wasn't looking at the speedo.

I didn't realise 3SGTE sumps were so funky. Not a simple rectangle with a shallow part and deep part for the oil pickup.

Thats the bottom bit of a gen 3 sump, gen 3 3sge I think would be identical. The top part of a gen3 sump is cast ali.

Gen 2 3sge and 3sgte sumps are basically the same, except that the 3sgte sump has a fitting for turbo oil return (which is in the cast ali part of the gen3 sump).

Correct. On gen 3 turbo's the oil return fitting is actually a flange and two studs with a hose fitting on the end, unlike the gen 2 which has a hose fitting on the sump itself. The non-turbo sumps are identical except for the oil return which is removed (or not machined in).
