Seatbelt

Post by Mattaw11 »

Hay guys

Anyone know if seatbelts between the aw11 and sw20 are interchangeable or know of any that have a shorter reaching buckle. Carnt get child seat buckled in tightly as the buckle sits to high up

Interesting thought Matt.

I have the opposite problem in the SW - need longer stems for the buckles.

I'll try to remember to peel open a couple of MR2's on the weekend and take a look...

Feel free to remind me. 8)

Seat belt fastenings are quite different between AW and SW. Not interchangable, they don't click together. You'd need to swap out the entire thing and I don't know if that's possible (sorry don't have spare SW set and not going to pull SW apart to find out).

The AW buckles I have here are 300mm from bolt centre to top of buckle.

If that's any shorter than your pre facelift ones I'll be happy to swap a pair.

Mathew are you still looking for seat belts. I have a full set out of SW20 that were good. I was going to put them in the 93 but never did.
I will get a picture up later to show you. These fit to the seat and are very short stubby type.
As for where you could use them in a AW11 I have no clues. I do know that there are so many different types of belt clips it maybe hard to find ones that match up. Also SW20 at least, that type are very hard to find at Zebra or Pick A Part. I did not keep the ones out of the 93 as they were not genuine MR2 ones.

Matt are you saying a standard AW belt with 300mm buckle for the passenger's side will fix your problem?

Does the belt itself that you have on the passenger's side fit the driver's side buckle?

If so I will send you a 300mm buckle for the passenger's side.

(I don't think I have an entire spare seat-belt but I think I do have a spare buckle).

Clive I too would be interested to see your spare set of SW belts. How they attach is the interesting thing.

And I'd be interested in scoring them too if they are no use to Matt. Assuming the price is right...
