Post by Mrman »

Hi guys, has anyone In palmy north/ Wellington area got a recommendation for a cert, I've just finished up my v6 swap and want to get all the boxes ticked but no one I know has ever bothered certing their cars so don't know who is and isn't good. Thanks

There is a couple of Certifiers in Palmy on the list .
Boosted cars are like hot women.
A little edgy, every guy wants one,
some guys can't handle them,
and if you throw a little alcohol in them they'll rock your world.

Yeah I've had a look but I'm more interested in dealings with the certifiers themselves.

Best go talk with them then. Olaf got his done somewhere close for a turbo swap but I'm not sure if it was Kapiti.

Normally before doing work like this it's a good idea to find a certifier first and go over what you want to do. However with a simple swap like yours most of the things picked up are more like WOF related wear items.

I'm wondering on different experiences on the certifiers as I have heard one of them is a knob but I want to know if others have thought the same or it's a one off.

He's turning into a dick about things apparently getting super strict

They can only be as strict as the rules/documents are. So if you aren't complying then sure you won't pass. But if they aren't following the documents then they aren't doing their job properly.

That's a shame, it may be personality clash though, he's an old fashioned hot rod type bloke and I can't imagine he likes dealing with boy racers who try and be smart with him. He does know best, that's why he's a certifier, so listen to him and take his advice (or instruction) on board.

Danny's Auto's in Palmerston North have just completed the cert on a friend's H22A swapped EG civic.

Was a great guy to deal with apparently. Showing genuine interest in the conversion and reasons behind it.
Pretty quick and painless process.

The vehicle was mechanically solid, however far from show car standard.

Well worth the trip down to Manawatu as we don't have many options for certifiers in Hawkes Bay.

Thanks for letting me know, I had decided on these guys already and will be getting the car all finished up soon ready for the cert with Danny’s. Cheers
