If your system took R-12 you'll need to some work to allow it to have R-134a gas. I'm not sure what year if any the SW20 moved to R-134a

I was talking to one of the techs from toyota the other day, apparently they made the switch around 1995ish. Mine has a sticker on the bottom of the bonnet stating what gas and oil it uses.

I would say it was November 1993 when the MR2 changed to R134a gas. Based on the sticker part number and pump part number. So GEN3-5.

I have a contact for recharging r12. You need to be in the South Island though.

LOL prequel memes.

As far as I know, only banned from acquiring it and dumping it into the atmosphere.

R12 a/c is so much better than r134a at cooling. Also heaps better at depleting the ozone.

Yes, my first SW20 (1991) had a freezer for A/C

If you want to come for a trip down to Tauranga would be happy to recharge system for a box of beers or the likes. Got a jug of MO49 laying around that would love a home in a mr2. I would advise getting someone to pressure test the system with dry nitrogen and find the leak before recharging, otherwise it just gunna leak out the same place. Not hard or expensive to replace all the 'O' rings. Pm if interested. To answer your question, the fittings are standard 1/4 inch service fittings.

Yeah, will do, I'll just have to go somewhere to get the system checked first.
