Whoops..! Just realised I had completely forgotten to update this thread about AC appointments... Sorry folks.

So - Sandra Cain has stood down from her position as AC for Otago, after years of valuable service. Her crew now take turns to organise outings and Pam Harris aka Curly has admirably carried on the job of posting their activities on the forum. So we've made Pam the AC for Otago, though it's up to the rest of the crew down there to help keep things alive. Nice team effort folks - keep getting out and having fun in those MR2's - it's a long-standing Otago tradition and I'd hate to see it die.

Troy Haima Van Der Wal aka troyhaima has stood down from his co-AC role in Christchurch. I'm sure Simon Summerfield aka simonaszakra will miss having his help. Thanks Troy. Good effort mate, well done. 8)

Craig Chew aka Chewbaby has stood down as BOP AC and Ross Godkin aka chief1eye has taken on the role. Ross is very enthusiastic and right into his motorsport which is great stuff as he's clearly out to demonstrate just how much fun can be had in an SW20 MR2.

I want to thank Chewy for the excellent runs he organised as well as the stellar job he did of hosting the AGM one year. I know also that we're all hoping to see him on runs in the future - so don't be a stranger Chewy!

And hats off to Ross for stepping up. I'm sure his wide grin and love of the MR2 will see the good times escalate in the Bay Of Plenty. 8)
Ross is always keen to jump in the 2 and scoot off to get happening with folk in other areas too which is great! A proven recipe for success, as demonstrated by our current batch of lower North Island AC's.

I'm also very happy to announce the appointment of Tom Clarke aka tomnomnom as AC for the Hawke's Bay region. Tom's been knocking around in the club for some years now and loves his MR2. He's always had a good attitude towards others and demonstrated maturity beyond his years so I'm sure the MR2 owners in Hawke's Bay can look forward to a lot of fun times. I also know the neighbouring AC's are keen to hook up with Tom for combined runs. Go for it guys. Nice. :D

OK so after about 9 years as AC leading a run each month in the Auckland area I've decided to call it quits.

It's been a hoot. Of all the things that I took on for this club, by far the most fun. A great way to meet people, to get out and have a blast, and the grins on people's faces at the end of each run have simply made my day!

So first-up, a huge "thank-you" to all those that ever attended a run that I led. You guys made my day. :D

Right then, on to the next thing. So at the AGM our new President (and them that were there) kindly agreed to allow me to find one or more new AC's for Auckland. We settled on the idea that spreading the load might be a good thing, with one fella leading nor-western runs and one fella leading south-eastern runs, on alternating months. There's also the thought that a lot of people are into other stuff such as shows / park-ups, motorsports etc. So it also makes sense to have an AC that's right into that kinda stuff.

Had lunch with the new President last weekend when he rocked up here to collect some rims, and we agreed on the following appointments:
Steven Ward aka Wardy has agreed to the challenge of leading us astray in the wild nor-west. His weapon of choice is a red SW.
Paul Smith aka Mr-Paulio has agreed to doing the same in the south-east. His weapon of choice is a blue AW.
Be warned. Neither car is exactly standard issue. They are interesting beasts.
Mike Playle aka MikeP is less inclined to go like a cut cat on twisty back roads, but he is extremely interested in attending car shows, park-ups, and motorsport events. He's also a very sociable animal, which is great.

So there you have it folks. Three new AC's for Auckland. Get behind them and go have some fun!

I quite like this distribution of ACs and I'm pretty sure each of them will be good at it.

Thanks Charlie for your work, I've only been to a few runs but they were all very well organized, thoughtful, and just good all around :D

Thanks to Steven, Paul and Mike for stepping up so we can continue to have fun fast paced but relaxing mid engined social gatherings 8)

Sorry to see you end your reign as the Auckland AC Charlie, those are some big tyres to fill! Splitting the work load is a smart idea, works for us down here at the bottom of Auckland I mean the North Island.

Congratulations to Steven, Paul and Mike. With any luck I can actually look to attend a random out of region run once in a blue moon in the near future.

Again, thank you Charlie!
I haven't been doing this long either. But have thoroughly enjoyed the runs, people and of course the club!
I hope we can fill those "big tyres" as so eloquently put  :D

"Red thing"

see you on the flip side

Thanks for the great organisation over the past years Charlie, will we still be seeing you on majority of these runs?
We still need somebody to bring a barbecue

Also interested to see what these new coordinator's come up with, great choices! I'm sure they will still keep the Auckland area lively.

Thanks guys. And thanks for rocking up each time that you did. :D

I intend on feeding the new AC's a few ideas regards routes and will certainly be there when I can. Not much beats driving an MR2 at pace on a twisty back road.

 As for the BBQ... why don't the AC's hit the new management up and see if the club will stump up a BBQ for each area? They are about $200 plus a small gas bottle so maybe about $250 each. The lower north fellas could share cos they do combined runs anyway, and maybe an area ought to have 10 club members to qualify for a BBQ...? Anyway just a thought. They certainly do help everyone stick around once you get to a destination, and that's a great way for people to get to know each other.

Hi guys,
yeah this seems like a great way to fill the gap that Charlie will leave.
Charlie has done such a great job for such a long time that we all sort of failed to notice the work and effort that he ( and Michelle) did.
It just goes to show how much was going into it when it takes not two but three people to replace him.
That said I am sure that you guys will do a great job and I do look forward to joining one of your runs in the future. The separation allows each person to be more familiar with the members, the roads and the events in your immediate areas. This can only enhance the runs that you organise and provide people from the other parts of Auckland with new and more satisfying insights into the Auckland region as a whole.
Well done guys! lets keep the club buzzing. Charlie has set the bar high but I am sure that you can match it.
See you sometime soon I hope,
Keith

Thanks for the compliment Keith but I'm merely hoping it makes things a bit easier on the new crew, and with any luck it should also ensure there's more fun for everyone in our region than there ever has been in the past! Especially if MikeP manages to line up a heap of car show / parkups / motorsport / kymkhana events etc as that would add some great stuff that I seldom managed to get happening.

So yeah, here's to a new and re-invigorated chapter in Auckland's MR2 Club activity...! :D

Keith Crawley or Crawls is now the Hawke's Bay AC - I know with a bit of our help he's going to tap into all those cars on the east coast of the North Island!!

Update - Pam Harris has moved to Rangiora and not in a position to be AC for Otago.
