Apologies, can't make this one as I'm running the Fireworks Display at Napier that night.

100+ MR2OCNZ runs and counting... When going hard, good rubber's your best protection against unwanted accidents. Buy good tyres!
When you're nearing the end of the drag-strip and you have no 'chute, you may as well keep your foot to the floor... Live life. There ain't no second pass.

Unfortunately my commitments to Speedway rule me out for this awesome trip.
Madaz will have to take a break until another time.

Manual gearbox for Tauranga then Michael? Well you're the only one apart from myself who knows what the roads are like for that trip... Let's hope your wee beast is ready.mknz wrote:If I still have the AW in running order

Your AW was at the Thundercats the last time we went (7 years ago at Waipu Cove). It'd sure be good to see it at the next one, if you can't make Kawhia. See how you go.

Re: Kawhia - All North Island welcome - Sat 9th December
Any chance you could share the Google Maps link for that trip? I'm considering taking the AW11 on this trip for my first big drive (though I'll have only owned the car for just over a week by then so I'd be taking it slow at the back of the pack).mickeyduck wrote:Map of the route to Kawhia for us Aucklanders:

There's not much chance of anyone getting lost Cai. I stop at strategic spots to ensure everyone catches up.
I also do that because I don't want anyone to feel pressured to drive any faster than they are comfortable with. So people who want to explore what an MR2 can do should be nearer the front of the convoy and people who like to cruise can settle in nearer the back.
And if you find yourself with a gap in front but someone right on your tail, slow down or pull over and wave them past when there's a good safe opportunity. Cos we also don't need anyone doing dangerous passing due to frustration. A run is not a race and safety is paramount.
There will be a few places where I'm likely to bury the boot and have a little fun, but nobody needs to feel pressured to keep up. I'll stop further down the road anyway.
Read the run rules of conduct please, anyone attending. It's just good sensible stuff:

If anyone did get lost all you'd need to do is use your phone's GPS bizzo to get you to "The Big Apple" near Waitomo. Use Google Maps to "sent it to your phone" before the run so you can easily navigate to the meeting point if you do manage to get lost.
You could do the same for each waypoint I guess:
BP on SH1 Drury where we meet before heading south.
The Big Apple (Otorohanga) near Waitomo where we meet those who come from other parts of the North Island.
The hotel in Kawhia where we will end up for lunch.
It'll be good if you can make it Cai. See you there.

Re: Kawhia - All North Island welcome - Sat 9th December 2017
It's with a sad heart, I have to let you know I cannot see me doing this run.
I have to go back to Kawau Wed, Thurs, Friday.
This will leave me drained to much to cope with a long drive.
We are pumping 33/34hrs into three days, leaving me shattered.
I had hoped last week was the end of the work, but not so.
Have a great run guys. Miss you, and putting the car through it's pace's. man it needs a run, nearly as bad as I need to go fishing.

Shame you can't make it Clive!
For us that can, what is the meeting point (for Aucklanders)?
