Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
The weather looks like it's not going to be the usual hawkesbay melt your face off heat and shine, but the rain will hopefully stay away.
Make sure you have at least a half tank, not a big drive but it will give you a taste of what we have to offer here and if and when it turns into an annual event we can organise different routes. I'll give you all a run down anyway.
See you all tomorrow!

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
Hi Guys,
Don't know if anyone will go on here, but worth a try. I was the missing MR2, the red one. Missed the turn, ended up going to SH5, whoops. But anyone if anyone gets this and there's a plan for tonight and tomorrow, either give me a txt 0273449574, or I'll have a look here later.
Regards,
Greg Hirst

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
A good run up from the lower north, turned into a real social event, 10 Cars in total at Hawkesbay, interesting mods done to the local cars.
Tom took us on a nice twisty road and not much traffic, we all survived and did a cruse of the Marine Parade ...
Out for dinner at a local club, really nice food. Went to the Water front market day this morning, then all headed off in different directions home.
All in all a great weekend
ps We found Greg
cheers Gary

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
Thankyou to everyone that came along this weekend! Met great people with great cars, and more of a turnout than expected especially for a first meet here.
I'll apologise for how unorganised I was, and for losing Greg! Lucky for me everyone else knew what to do and I appreciate the help and advice I received from various members.
Next mission is to join another run, and do this again
I'll post photos/videos up when I can get them..
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves and got home safe, and Greg I hope you found home okay

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
Hi guys,
sorry, Charlie, I could not oblige with an AW11. You will have to be content with the lone ZZw30 instead.
Full marks to Tom for organising this. We had a great weekend and I'm sure that all who attended will agree. it was great to catch up with people from all over the North Island an fantastic to meet and have a natter with some new, younger, folk who obviously love their MR2's as much as we do.
For those locals who farewelled us before tea on Saturday we appreciate the effort that you made and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It would have been great to have had dinner with you ( we out-of-towners had dinner and a great night at Bowls Taradale.) Oh well, perhaps next time.
Sue and I made a slight detour on our homeward journey, via the Gentle Annie, to Taihape. Some photos are attached, taken by Sue from the ( rapidly ) moving Spider, Note we had the top down all the way to Taihape. It was great trip. That road is an absolute blast! 110 km of clean smooth seal varying between tight and open rolling country, almost traffic free. We overtook two cars and met about four or five. That road is just crying out for an organised MR2 run.
On the subject of runs, an idea was suggested regarding an annual run: starting from Napier to Gisborne through Waioeka Gorge and on to Tauranga and Rotorua, returning to Napier via the Taupo - Napier road. I would be an absolute starter for that and I suspect that several of the people that were present this weekend would be in too. Just a thought, perhaps a joint run between Hawkes Bay Tauranga and Rotorua.
Anyway Tom is to be congratulated for his effort this weekend and we wish him all the best in really getting the Bay stirred up again. We will help where we can.
Sue and Keith

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
Thanks HB guys for organising, it was good weekend run with near perfect weather. Left wellington at 8am and met up with Gary in Masterton then other at Paihatua before heading north for quick lunch at the Tikokino (cafe) on SH50 which I normally just whizz past before meeting up in Napier. After a quick rural run, the group dinner was a bonus with the $20 smorg.... as much as you can eat deal. We headed home the next day after checking out the local waterfront markets. A great driving weekend

Re: HawkesBay Meet&Greet 28 October
No worries. I still had a good drive. Was pissed off with myself rather than anyone else. Doesn't take much, behind the wheel, to get the happy face on again. Found some good roads.
I'll be down at Manfeild on the 3rd December at the Playday trackday in my blue MR2 V6 for a run. So if anyone is there I can give them a passenger ride around the track. The racecar is fully caged, race seats, and harnesses. For those new to the track or just new to being out on track, you might learn something.
Cheers,
Greg
