AKL run to Pakiri now Sun 26 Nov 2017

Post by mickeyduck »

*** EDIT: POSTPONED AND WILL NOW DO THIS ON 26TH NOVEMBER ***

OK folks here's a really special run for yas. We did this for the very first time in November last year.

http://mr2.org.nz/phpbb3/viewtopic.php? ... 8&start=45

Doing a run to Pakiri beach on Sunday November 19th, for a BBQ lunch hosted by MikeP 8)

Meet at Westgate 9am Sunday 19 November, weather permitting.

Yep, that's 9am so we can get moving before too many others hit the road!

Full tank of gas is a must - and bring some BBQ food and liquid refreshment, sunscreen etc.

Tons of twisties. Old North Rd, SH16, Woodcocks Rd, and the climax of the run is a hill-climb over the summit of the Matakana Valley Rd.

And guess what? It's just as much fun on the way back too!

If you don't like the music just hit mute and soak up a small taste of the twisties:
(and don't watch The Matrix ha ha)

Last year we had an AWesome array of AW's in attendance.
Whatcha reckon fellas, are AW's gonna rule again this year?

Or will the AW's be SWept away on the day by the next kind of MR2?

Maybe you'll have to get the MRS out so you're not the guy that MRS out...? ZZWeet...

Whichever kind of MR2 you drive, bring that Toymota out to play cos this will be a brilliant day!

See you there! :D

Hi Mike.
Just letting you know I cannot make it, due to work commitments.
Charlie asked me yesterday.
I am P***** Off, as I so enjoyed this run last time.
I am not sure where I am even going to be in Auckland or still away.
Booked to do 3days away, back 2, then away again for 3. may even have to do another 3 away after that.
With the birds this is a logistical nightmare. Due to the food prep for the people who are going to look after them.

But will doing my best to do the Christmas Club Run.
I hope you guys have a great time.

TXT'd a bunch of people last night, not heard a lot back though. Maybe it's time for a new Auckland AC...?

POSTPONING UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2017.

Weather's looking a bit iffy for tomorrow and expecting some serious rain tonight.
Which means Woodcocks Rd will be very slippery at best tomorrow morning, and is likely to have a few slips as well.
Don't need anyone falling off the road, and that bit of road is SO GOOD when dry, it would be a crying shame to have to tip-toe through there.

Forecast for next week is fine and dry all week and next weekend looks MUCH better than this one.

So we'll do this run Sunday 26th November.
Meet at Westgate 9am on the day.

See you then!

So you'll be even faster through the corners than on the last run!

You'll be able to make it next Sunday, Ivor?
