AKL - Waikato - BOP run Sunday 4th February
*** EDIT: POSTPONED DUE TO THE ROADS GETTING TRASHED BY A STORM ***
Possibly doing this 4rd February if that suits Ross the BOP AC. - CONFIRMED
There won't be any Thundercats but there'll still be a massive beach and a lot more sunshine.
A couple of years back (almost 7 actually) we rocked up to Waipu Cove for a BBQ on the beach with the Norsemen, and found ourselves watching the Thundercats racing in the breakers.
http://mr2.org.nz/phpbb3/viewtopic.php? ... ats#p78361
AWesome! Mid engine, Really fast 2-hulled racing machines, and able to turn corners about as fast as an MR2 as well. Swell!
This year we're going to make a mission of it and tear down to Tauranga, manoeuvre to The Mount, cos the Thundercats are racing in the surf on January 6th 2018.
http://www.thundercatracing.co.nz/2018/ ... f-cross-2/
It's a great opportunity for a BBQ on the beach with our mates from the BOP. Might even manage to get a few bods from further afield turn up too, never know...
I know some wickedly twisted back roads to take to get there from Auckland too.
AWesome driving in your MR2, and a BBQ with a SWeet-as view.
And the company, as always, will be most excellent.
So line it up in your calendar folks!
Aucklanders - meet at the usual spot at BP on SH1 Drury, 9am 6th January.
The racing runs from 11am until 3pm so we ought to get a bit of a look over lunch...
We can work out more detail as we go (when and where to meet the Mooloolanders and BOPers for example).
But if you're keen, throw it in your calendar cos it'll be a happening thing.
Hope to see you there!

100+ MR2OCNZ runs and counting... When going hard, good rubber's your best protection against unwanted accidents. Buy good tyres!
When you're nearing the end of the drag-strip and you have no 'chute, you may as well keep your foot to the floor... Live life. There ain't no second pass.

I'll probably do the conversion in between the run beforehand and this one since there's a whole bunch in case I manage to make something else leak. Fingers crossed I'll be there

Harsh guys!
I've found 2 spots the alternator cable was probably arcing on the body now. Shity old cable! Also some weird shit I need to look into. Where the cable starts at x2 4mm cables, goes to one 4mm cable and ends up at 2mm to the battery after a fuse. Some one has done something dodgey previously it seems. So will replace that some time next week! And should be good to go!!

Yep one nice big fat cable Paul, sounds like a plan. Then make good use of those AWesome back roads out your way for a little testing before the run.
Anyway you have a V6 in there now so if Rodney's truck ever breaks down maybe you can tow him home...?

That would be funny to see! maybe not the best idea for the v6 clutch tho.mickeyduck wrote:Yep one nice big fat cable Paul, sounds like a plan. Then make good use of those AWesome back roads out your way for a little testing before the run.

Just glad for Paul, that it's an "easy" solution to the issue.

Well let's not jinx it. I guess we will see when I've replaced the cable. Until then, fingers crossed!Speedhog wrote: That would be funny to see! maybe not the best idea for the v6 clutch tho.

If you are talking about cables with Joins in remember Kirchoffs law re voltage drop .
Best to make sure that you have the right cross sectional area and type of cable to avoid shorts o r arcing etc.

If you were asleep that day at Tech then heres a calculator to help
Cheers

Don't worry - this one has gone just a we bit off topic!! Looks like it's to do with the reliability - or lack thereof - of Mr Paulio's MR2......
See ya
