I like the date! Like you say, shouldn't be too much madness on the road. And I'd be driving my car over that weekend regardless; more fun to do it with others.

I'll have to pass on that date sorry guys. But next time!!
I've been thrashing my car around the back roads regularly with no bugs. Even tweaked the suspension some, now I can corner harder and faster!

Pretty sure we saw you testing the AW today Paul, near Hunua? Going ok? (We were heading to Hamptons).

You thinking of rocking up next Sunday for the pizza run to Waipu mate?

Yup. That was me! Stuck behind slow Sunday drivers :(
Was just out for a quick pie run to the local. Yup she's running all good now.
Next time you are test driving in my neck of the woods let me know. I'll try and tag along. Plus I believe I owe you a beer
Unfortunately don't think I can make the Pizza or Tauranga runs

That sucks Paul. Especially the one to Tauranga. Great back roads, a real nice drive.

Re: AKL - Waikato - BOP Omokoroa BBQ

Post by chief1eye »

Hi Everyone.

Yep we are still all go for the Omokoroa BBQ on Sunday 4th February. I'm thinking we should just confirm the arrangements. We can use the BBQ's that are available at the domain, they are those electric type ones, free of charge and are pretty good as they are relatively new and get little use.. So just bring what meat you want to cook.

Time wise lets make it 12:00 to 12:30. Initally we said about 1-1:30 pm to fit in with Thundercats. Thats probably a bit now.
Location: Omokoroa Domain, Omokoroa.

Any other instructions or info people need? Cheers Ross 0274506732

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Sounds good Ross. We'll try to get there on time.

I'll want to go to the beach near the Mount at some point and try to park up for a quick photo shoot too. If it's too crowded near the Mount then further east will be ok as long as we can get a good shot of the cars with the beach / Tauranga etc in the background somehow. Again I have no idea about what might be a good location...

Let's hope the weather behaves!

We will be able to get some good shots from the Omokoroa Domain with the Mount in the background. After the BBQ we can enjoy a cruise into the Mount and see if we can find a good place to park up. Parking will always be a challenge this time of the year.

That's excellent Ross.

Bummer the weather forecast is starting to look like rubbish for that weekend though.

We'll have to hope the weather sorts itself for the 4th. Otherwise it might end up being yet another postponement. Summer ain't what it used to be...

I can see the day coming when we'll be operating in "scramble" mode, taking advantage of any fine weekend that comes our way...

Hmmm...

OK you know what? I'm going to make the call right now and say we do this run in "scramble mode". Do it either on the day we proposed if fine enough, or on the first available fine Sunday thereafter. Which means anyone wanting to partake will simply need to stay tuned, and make the call if they are coming or not, on the day.

Unfortunately that may mean we miss out on the hospitality of our BOP host. But what do you do? Watch some young fella crash in the rain, or put it off indefinitely while the weather (literally) pisses us about...?

I don't know how else to get the most out of summer if you plan a run once a month and the weather is so fickle... Summer's just going to come and go. We need to get out and enjoy these MR2s when we can, is the thing.

You cool with that Ross?
