Thundercats and Omokoroa BBQ

Post by chief1eye »

Hi All.

So this Saturday the Thundercats (boat racing) is on at Mount Maunganui. It likley to be a bit of a madhouse with the holiday traffic. So it may be best for people to roll up there and check it out themselves. Parking together will be impossible.

If you are or are not heading to the Thundercats, Either way, Make sure you get to the Omokoroa Domain for the MR2 Club BBQ starting from 1-1:30 pm.. Enter via the back entrance off Harbour View Road. Look for the MR2 Club Banner! Omokoroa is about 20 minutes North of Tauranga on SH2, take the Omokoroa Beach turn off. And follow the road to the end. Turn left into the Esplanade then left again into Harbour view road, follow road until you get to the Omokoroa Doman entrance. Look for the MR2 Club Banner!

My house looks over the Domain so we will be well set up with serving tables, salads, knifes and forks and sauces, cold drinks, there are electric BBQ available that we can use. A Beautiful spot to gather, have a relaxed bite to eat and enjoy and talk Mr2's.

For Catering purposes can you please let me know if you are coming to the BBQ. Thanks Ross 0274506732

Having put forward the idea of a visit to the Mount to see the Thundercats, and as I've not been to Tauranga in 30 years, it would have been nice to know this was a fail in the making some time earlier. But hey... If the rain doesn't keep us away (leaky AW T-tops and all) I'll be glad to see you at your BBQ Ross, even if it is with some egg on my face.

The drive there (if fine) will be AWesome and the company as always will doubtless be just as good. 8)

As for numbers attending... Never do know until the day. That's just the simple reality of it mate. And it's always made worse by iffy weather. So don't splurge out to cater for anyone, we can all bring our own food eh. If you're good enough to be the host (and perhaps man the BBQ) we should be good enough to bring our own kai.

Let's hope the weather's up to it mate. Cos it's a brilliant drive and I'm sure a BBQ at Omokoroa will be just as nice as a BBQ on the beach watching Thundercats (which worked well 7 years ago at Waipu Cove, but may be a hope too far these days at the crowded Mount.)

Hope to see you Saturday. :)
