AGM Activity- Visit to Colin Meads Waitete Rugby Club

Post by chief1eye »

Just seeing if there is interest in visiting the Waitete Rugby Club on Saturday Afternoon, after the AGM meeting. Ive heard its a treasure of Colin Meads Memorabilia. Ive got a local contact that I'm asking if we can be hosted. I also think they do meals, like steak , egg and chips etc and you can also get a light beer or juice etc. I'm waiting to find out the details but it would be pretty cool to catch up and see where the great man played his rugby.

So keen to hear if there is any interest in this or not?

AGM is at 4pm, will last an hour possibly more. We need to grab food and have a BBQ for dinner later. Time for this in between Ross? How far away is Waitete from the Panorama?

Okay Charlie. Will look at the option to go prior to the AGM. Might see about hitting it more for a late lunch.

Should we go there for dinner then? Or is that a bad idea? Might be a bit too packed by then?

I'll just get all the details from my local and then we can hatch a plan based on the intel. If it doesn't work that's fine but thought it may be a cool thing to check out.

FYI,
Colin Meads "Pinetree" statue is in mainstreet outside (old railway station) Cafe. Great spot for group photo.
Cheers Ken.

Hard to get near the carrot at the moment, they are redeveloping the park. Comming from Wellington we dont go near Paeroa or Tirau. There are a number of Bulls at Bulls and the Hunterway dog at Hunterville though.
