MR2 Otago run to Invercargill Sunday 20 May 2018

The plan is to visit the Classic Motorcycle Museum - 300 on display, including some John Brittain bikes on loan

Admission is $20, or Gold Card holders $18 unless we get good numbers, then we MAY be able to get a group discount

We will assemble at Sunnyvale car park at 7,30 am, departing at 7.45am. That should give us plenty of time for comfort stops

then Speights Ale House for lunch. Lunch should be 12.30 or 1pm, depending on how long we spent looking at the bikes.

I need numbers by Wednesday 16 May for the museum, and for the lunch

We are hoping to meet our Invercargill members, either at the museum, and / or lunch

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, or anything to add.

It would be great if we could have a good turnout.

Kind regards

Pam Harris

Hi Otago people,
damn! I want to see that museum!
Unfortunately I have used up all my brownie points and there is much to do around the Presidential Palace. Not only that but I am now short on funds due to a new roof ( I can't even afford the money buy a new body shell for my Supercharger ).
Have fun guys. Take some photos to show the rest of us what we missed.
Keith

Be glad its a roof for the car, and not one for the house. Been there, done that

What is the cost of the roof you are getting. Ours has come apart above the window and doubt its repairable, then theres the cost of installation. We are OK meantime as we have a hardtop

Sure will "Let me see the result and then happy to share if it turns out ok.Hate to share if it's not good. the biggest thing with roofs is the fitting.Toyota allow 10 hours for the job.The whole interior has to come out of the car. The cheapest other quote I got for fitting was 1000. So I'm hoping my $400 dollar man is ok.

He's been an upholster for 25 years and done a couple before so everything crossed its ok

Otago Run, May 20th 2018

Post by Curly »

On Sunday we met at the ungodly hour of 7.30am and left with 4 cars, for Invercargill. We had a very good run down, no traffic and fine, dry weather.
By the time we reached the far south it was raining cats and dogs but it wasn’t too far to walk to the Motorcycle Mecca, where we were glad to find some more of our clan and a cafe inside with lots of lovely looking food and HOT drinks. Next, three guys from Queenstown turned up. It was great to meet Ben (a new member), his brother James and their mate, Joe.

Then it was time to visit the museum and look over all the bikes. The oldest I saw was built in 1903. There were many makes I had never heard of, quite a number of Indians, and some John Britten bikes. There was something to interest everyone, even me, who is not that interested in bikes. I like to have full cover when I’m on the road, these days anyway.

Next we were off to Speight’s Ale House for our meal, then, we got to meet our newest members, Turia and Evan, from Invercargill - now there are 16 of us.
Everyone got on very well, and the conversations could have gone on for hours. So many interesting people.

Alan Smith took 75 fantastic photos but I have picked the cream of them for you all.

Uli and Lilian - this is the best supported run we have had in months and I personally am so pleased that we got to meet our newest members. Well done guys

Looks like you guys had a great day.
The museum is a really good day out.
I love the Brittan. Im lucky enough to have a good friend who used to build the engines..

Always do the Burt Munro weekend every year on our bikes. We will pop in there again.
