Wellington Fun Run Sunday August 19th 2018

Post by ClanFever »

Getting the date well out there, I've gone ahead and chosen the day this time, to change things up. Not the only thing that will be changed up this run.

Why don't we meet at the end of one of the fun roads we like to use? We will meet at Makara Beach! And at 2PM, after lunch. If the weather right before the event has been too gnarly I may relocate our starting position. We will be leaving at 230PM, so enough time to cruise out there, and hang around for photos.

Will will end up going around the bays backwards to our normal way, and I would like to have big-ish numbers for this one, MR2 and not MR2

Will we look at to have some kind of coffee or perhaps even dinner at the end, we could go to Denny's as they can support bigger numbers and they do all day breakfast

Please do vote on the poll if you can come, feel free to change your vote if your circumstances change. If anyone has any reservations about the changes feel free to let me know :)

Not actually sure what time to book us into Denny's.... I think the dinner or coffee is completely optional, I also get that many of you will need to go home for that anyway. So I won't book us in, risky however I think it'll pay off being that there's no rush to get there or to fill the numbers I book in.

Valid point
Boosted cars are like hot women.
A little edgy, every guy wants one,
some guys can't handle them,
and if you throw a little alcohol in them they'll rock your world.

Yeah I figured there may be that for some of you guys, this event has been opened up to a few other clubs too so should still be a good turnout.

Thanks for the reminder,
I might be better off putting it in to the car so as not to forget it .

Due to the nature of this event being Wellington based, it is near impossible to keep a convoy together. So I would like you all to be very familiar with the route we are taking, and the locations we will be stopping. I will look to see who is there at Makara Beach and grab a contact number (if I don't already have it) so we can tally up at each meeting point. As 100% of you most likely have phones, it'd be handy to mark these points down unless you can remember them.

Meeting point: Makara Beach
1st stop: Te Kopahou Visitor Centre, Owhiro Bay
2nd stop: Point Halswell Lighthouse, Wellington, 6022

The route to use is linked here, and also posted as an image
https://goo.gl/maps/rZH1s6JXhXP2

This is where I think it could get interesting. If you have attended up to this last "convoy based" meeting point, you will get your Challenge Series Point. I then toast a little game for 2 points to be earned.

We will split up and meet up again a little later, at the (back of) the Tawa Countdown Carpark (heading north on SH1, exit left at Tawa, then take two more lefts immediately). There will be criteria I will mention at the 2nd stop above in order to earn these 2 points. Afterwards we can get dinner. I won't hold anyone up, you can head home at anytime, best to let me know though so I don't think you've gone missing :)

If any of that is confusing, please post or message me, I've done my best to explain and be clear, however I know I can be ambiguous without realising!

Oh boy you make things difficult!
I have heaps to do this weekend and have a large part of Saturday booked. That makes the Dyno Day a non starter. This is a different matter.
I was intending to be very busy around the house on Sunday but this looks more fun so I will be aiming to be there. Not sure yet.
Keith.
