Naki's one day Epic Sept 8th
There are a few of us down here itching for a long day behind the wheel, on a quest for good food with great people, in some fun cars on some twisties.
This run covers a few areas and anyone wanting to join in can meet up with us enroute and go as far as they like, it would be great to see you
The plan
Meet at the Gull / Uncle Bill car park in New Plymouth at an unworldly 545am on Saturday 8th September. Come armed with your choice of hot beverage and maybe a light snack, we will be departing at 6am and heading to Wanganui for breakfast where we will meet anyone coming up from the southern end of the North Island. After breakfast we will being heading to Taupo via the Paraparas and if time allows taking in some backroads on the way.
Lunch at Taupo before heading back to New Plymouth.
For those thinking about coming down to New Plymouth and overnighting, heading home on the Sunday, we have loads of accommodation providers, ranging from the Novotel at the top of the spectrum to middle of the road Autolodge or the Devon Hotel and the Plymouth, down to reasonably priced motels. The cafe scene is very strong here with an abundance of choice but, a seaside location just cannot be beaten
Look forward to seeing you on the run

I am thinking of going on this, I doubt any of my MR2's will be fit for the trip but will have something to attend in, I will look to meet up with Keith for the trip to Wanganui for breakfast and then head back home after lunch in Taupo.
Cheers
Pierre

Re: Naki's one day Epic Sept 8th
sounds good guys, will be great to see some new faces and familiar ones too.
Breakfast will be at Mint Cafe in Whanganui, Hope to be there around 8am or soon after. Access is off Watt street opposite the War Memorial Centre. Parking should be good, but there is lots of parking on the main street, Victoria ave. Anywhere around the round-a-bout at Maria Place and just walk up the steps if parking on the main street, cafe is right there on the right. Loved it there when I was there last and still getting good reviews.
Taupo, roughly around 3 hours away so hoping to be there between 12 and 1 via the Paraparas. There is a stretch of road along here which is listed as 'CAUTION' but we should be good as its currently open with care and possible delays.
For lunch, the world is our oyster, the best cafe spot is on the corner of Tongariro St (unless someone knows a better spot) and Lake Terrace where there an abundance of choice and a great view to the lake, might be easiest to decide when we get there. Parking is plenty but fills fast. More parking is a short walk away.
From lunch we can decide which way to head home depending on time as we have a number of options
