Well that was interesting... I had softened the Kei Office coilovers one click and they were fine yesterday but the bumps on SH16 and Woodcocks Rd are obviously a lot nastier than anything I encountered on my test run. Twice on SH16 we managed to actually nose-dive onto the road - while only doing about 80kmh. And on Woodcocks the back end got thrown sideways really badly on the corners where there were bumps. I think the shocks need to be harder because that way they stop the springs being so bouncy. Sadly I didn't have a tiny screwdriver with me (every tool but) so we gave up half way through Woodcocks and limped home quietly. Best not to break anything or worse yet, crash.

On the plus side - despite some horrendous crash-bang bumps - I'm pretty sure nothing broke. The bracing I've added to things seems to be doing the job.

And I'm pretty sure we only lost one brass lock-nut off the turbo. At a glance everything else seems ok, but once the car cools down I'll take a proper look.

One thing's for sure: I'm going to have to swap those BC Golds in and get a bit more ride height in there.  :!:

Mint day and I was so looking forward to this run. Sure hope the rest of you have a great time! Looking forward to some pics.

Well another perfect day for the Pakiri run.we had 8 cars on the Run. It was great to meet old friends and meet some new ones.
Cai in his AW and he bought his brother Sage with him who was visiting from Christchurch, Ben and his dad Terry came in an 86.Ivor Psyguy in his immaculately presented Spyder, Andrew AFOT in his Gen3 SW N/A tidy beast that,Thomas TW2 all the way from Hamilton in his SW,Wardy in his SW weapon and Charlie Mickey duck in "the red thing"..I took my Black Beauty AW.

Loads of twisties and apart from Charlie falling victim to the "curse of the red thing" we all got there safely and enjoyed a BBQ Lunch.Woodcocks Road and Matakana valley road provided its normal share of excitement.
We left Cai and Sage to enjoy the beach at Pakiri and headed home. Thanks to Ivan MotorheadSw20 who offered to make us all a coffee we dropped into his place at Kaukapakapa and gave his coffee machine a workout. Thanks a lot Ivan it topped off a wonderful day nicely. We got to check out Ivan's SW too.

Cant wait for the next one and some pics.

Wishing you all a happy and safe Christmas

Yes, another great run! Thanks for organising this one Mike & the use of the "Carabatch bolt hole"!!! Lovely spot & minta of a beach too!
Yes thanks Ivan, AWsome coffee, very friendly & kind of you to offer that up.
Cheers Wardy, we had a good percentage of "fast runs" today, feelin like i need some new tyres I'm thinkin, ass end gettin a bit slipping'n'sliding - or is that too much right foot input!!??
Brilliant weather for it, got pretty hot in the middle of the day....
Big ups to the guys coming up from the Tron, nice 2 C ya's, the more the merrier!
And good 2 C Ben again ( & his dad too!!!) & always good to run with Ivor.
Pitty you had to depart Charlie, i think you'd have been probably O.K. - I think that the Helensville end of Woodcocks Road is worse that the Warkworth end but, hey, you know your car the best.... It did look quite "stiff & taught" when following you on Woodcocks Road.....
Merry Xmas to all & safe travels to you all too & remember, there's plenty of "muppets" on the roads so be carefull out there!

Those bumps took multiple slices out of the outer edge of my left rear tyre's tread today so it's just as well we turned back. Didn't get to the casing thank goodness. I've raised the ride height by 20mm this afternoon so shouldn't have that issue again. But yeah I'll be swapping in the BC Golds over Christmas...

Great to hear you all had a good time. Would have loved to catch up with Ivan too, but them's the breaks.

Anyway it looks like suspension is my main mission now both for the SW and the AW so I guess I'll just have to catch up with everyone in the new year. Have a great Christmas folks!

Keen!! I might even see if I can squeeze in a quick preXmas club run out south. Now I have a new, (old) working 2. That needs to be broken in!
Sorry I couldn't make it guys! It was obviously awesome without me anyway!! Let's see those pictures!! :D

I'm in, guys! :P

We had a wonderful day yesterday, I concur with what everyone said!
I had to bail out early because of a work function I had in the afternoon but the run to Pakiri was very good, not much traffic really and some good opportunities to push our MR2s through the corners :D
Thanks for leading the way Wardy, and thanks for the organisation and hospitality Mike! And thanks to the rest of the crew for an enjoyable morning on the road!
Sorry no pics

Let's aim for the 5th Jan Paul. That's a Saturday so less likely to get stuck in returning holiday traffic heading home. Might even have an MR2 in reasonable working order by then, who knows? And Thomas can come! How are the rest of you placed for that Saturday?

Charlie it would have been great to catch up - but there's always next time - and if/when we're doing run over Kaipara Highway we could do a BBQ over here next time.
