Auckland Suicide Awareness Meet & Cruise

Post by mknz »

Tonight (December 15) from 5:30. This is run by some friends of club members after losing one of their mutual friends. It'd be great to see some more MR2s this time.

From the event page:
"The time has come for the third Suicide Awareness Meet and Cruise.
As you all know, suicide is becoming more and more of a common occurrence. This meet and cruise is aimed to raise awareness for suicide by lifting the stigma around it and to encourage those going through depression to speak up because they don't have to go through it alone.

The meet will start at 5:30pm and we will depart for the cruise at 7:30pm sharp.
The cruise route is basically to get to the waterfront along Tamaki drive, up Queen street and then along Dominion road towards the Warehouse on Stoddard road for the final park up.
This route is more aimed at going past as many people we can on a Saturday night that can see all the cars with yellow flags, banners and balloons to help raise awareness*.
Link to google maps of the route: https://tinyurl.com/y9j42s6n

We will provide plenty of yellow banners and balloons and flags with positive messages to help spread the message, but if people could bring yellow stuff too that would be awesome!

***This event is aimed to spread a positive message so please no dumb shit or you will be politely asked to leave. There will likely be police presence at some point to help the cause, and they will also not tolerate any stupid behavior.***

Bring along your family and friends, as everyone and all cars are welcome, the more the better!

Look forward to seeing you all there!"
