Akl Old School Meet Sunday 20 Jan 2019

Post by mickeyduck »

Attention all AW owners...! The Old School outfit are meeting at the Massey University car park in Albany on Sunday 20th January - 11am to 2pm.

Either meet us there, or meet us at 10am at Westgate (usual place near Starbucks) before we cruise to Albany.

Unlike some, this is one event where you'll find yourself surrounded by people who fully appreciate the classic nature of an AW. 8)

If you have an SW or MRS feel free to tag along, but just bear in mind the meet is supposed to be about Jap classics pre 1990 (I think).

See you there! 8)

100+ MR2OCNZ runs and counting... When going hard, good rubber's your best protection against unwanted accidents. Buy good tyres!
When you're nearing the end of the drag-strip and you have no 'chute, you may as well keep your foot to the floor... Live life. There ain't no second pass.

cheers for the post mickeyduck.. i've been slack :)
Is starbucks the usual meet place huh? I'll update to that. The old westgate correct?

20th January 2019, 11am - 2pm

Massey Uni, University Ave, Albany Auckland, tier carpark outside 'the ferguson'.

This is an annual event held on the 3rd sunday of January. It happens to also be Kumeu Hot Rod show weekend.

Loosely based on classic Japanese and Euro oldschool cars . pre 90's preferably.. But that is not strict at all. Bring your car, have a yarn, and wear sunscreen coz she's usually a scorcher!

Cruise to event, meeting at either Greenlane McD's or old Westgate outside starbucks 10am ish, depart 10.30am. Those in attendance make the call when to depart.

No booze, burnouts or stupidity please.

Looks like it'll be raining Sunday.

As nobody (literally nobody) has expressed interest in this event, I'll not be worrying too much about it if I decide the rain is too annoying and go back to bed...

Sorry Ivor, I didn't think anyone was going so I gave it a miss.

We had a Datsun 1200 station wagon 30 years ago - and it was an old car back then!
2-door, dark green, like the one in this pic.
Drove the thing all over the North Island. Even up the river from 90 Mile Beach to the Cape Reinga lighthouse.
Hard to kill, with a really simple and reliable engine. It got the cancer in the end, as them old things usually do. Ah well...

This annual car meet is held every 3rd Sunday of January in Auckland NZ. (put it in your calendars as i tend to organise these last minute)
For 2020 it's Sunday 19th January. 11am - 2pm.
