Re: Pizza Run to Waipu -Sunday 24th February
Well today was Michelle & my 30th wedding anniversary. So we took the day off work and went for lunch. At Waipu Cove.
The pizza barn isn't open Mondays and Tuesdays (it's their weekend I guess) so we had lunch at the Cove Cafe. Very nice indeed. As is the Cove itself.
Anyway just a heads-up: there's a lot of fresh seal with the usual crappy melt-in-the-sun asphalt and round marbles rubbish on SH16 and also on some of the roads to the Cove. In fact I'd estimate maybe 20% of the route is marked "50kmh" or slower with new (rubbish FH) seal. But don't fret. It didn't stop us having a blast in the SW...! You guys will have a great day too, I'm sure. Those roads are epic!
Enjoy!

I think the whole country is road works at the moment. I just drove down to Palmerston north, Whanganui and back up. I would say at least 20 road works on SH1 SH4 and other back roads. Filling out the budgets before end of financial year. Didn't see a single road worker either.
+1 congratulations Charlie.

Re: Pizza Run to Waipu -Sunday 24th February
HI Kevin
There are alternative routes but we will probably go our normal way. Charlie says only 20 percent of the road is affected and I know 3 ways into the cove anyway. Don't worry about it just come you will have a blast.

Yeah like I said the road works didn't stop us enjoying the drive. Well worth doing. You guys will have a great day out!
Thanks for the "congrats" fellas.
And I think I spotted Ivan in his black SW cruising through Kaukapakapa on the way home about 2:30 yesterday...?

You say that, but the slick tyres on the kart works really well in the dry! We run no problems, but where in Meremere.mickeyduck wrote:Be sure to fit the kart and the quad with serious balloon tyres Rodney.Speedhog wrote:I'll be playing with mini MR2's (Phothog's Twin Engine Kart for one) and a quad bike on the dirt that day.
Cos the weather's sure looking interesting.
Still can't make the 3rd either..

Re: Pizza Run to Waipu -Sunday 24th February
Well Great weather great company and a great run. Good to met Wes from Whangarei who had driven all the way down to Westgate with his son Julian just to drive up with us. Mr Paulio in his MAD MAX apocalypse styled SW and Me in the Spyder. We were joined by Jamie in his new MADAZ AW1 . This thing is a crazy mid engine rear wheel drive 2 seater with a 660 turbo engine. Kind of reminds you of "Honey I shrunk the AW". Ivan (Motorhead SW20) joined us at Kaukapakapa.
Great twisties through Old north ,Peak Road and Woodcocks and again through Mangawhai to the cove
MC Leods didn't disappoint with great Pizzas and food.
Full marks to Jamie for putting up with all the jokes about his car. Thanks for coming Guys and making it another good one

Nice collectable car there Jamie. Looks very straight too. You should hit up my eldest son Isaac for a photoshoot. Rotationals on Instagram.

Re: Pizza Run to Waipu -Sunday 24th February
Fun wee run with a few twisty hairy bit here and there!
It would be great to have some more people come along next time.
I'm sure a few of you sitting there never have and thinking about it!
Or have and thinking you should again!
Come on!!!
You will LOVE it!!
Anyway, I had to take off early for family but had some fun on the way home by myself also
Great food, great people and a mint day!
Intresting to check out Jamie's car. It was a MR Suzuki Cappuccino (same motor) Which some of you may remember from a recent Port Waikato run. 657cc 3 cylinder turbo.
Few pictures for you....
