Clubfest 2019 - Hampton Downs- June 2nd

Hey everyone, just letting you know that Clubfest 2019 at Hampton Downs is coming up on Sunday June 2nd. I know this is 3 months in advance, but this year there is only 250 spots available to get out on track and the first 100 early bird tickets are already sold. The next 100 spots are $140 and then the last 50 spots will be $160, so get in quick if you want a spot on the track. There is also hard park tickets for $30 at the gate on the day, as well as spectator tickets for $20. And when inside, $50 for a second driver of an already registered car for the track and $5 to be a passenger.

That's a hell of a lot of cars for one days track use. I'm guessing it's just cruising around the track, as apposed to going all out like a track/drift day?

A typical Track Day at Hamptons sees 50-ish cars... so when they say "limited to 250 cars" what they mean is you should expect a proper traffic jam on the track... and I bet that on the day they will limit the top speed as well due to "safety concerns".
At the last Track Day I attended at one point there was about 20 cars out at the same time and they started asking people to get into a different group as it was "starting to get busy on the track".
Still probably interesting for someone who hasn't been on the track yet but if you're serious about going as fast as you can in a safe environment you probably want to avoid going out on the track at this event.

It's definitely not a full on track day, probably classed as a more casual track day, but is still fun and have different sessions for race pace for caged and uncaged racecars, where you need helmet and fireproof overalls and there is no speed limit. But there is also "cruising" sessions where you don't need a helmet or protective clothing, they state that the speed limit is 100km/h but don't really care and don't enforce it unless someone does something stupid, I did these sessions last year and the quickest I went was 150-160 down the back straight before I had to slow down for the corner.

I have some pics from last year of the level of traffic, it does vary quite a bit though. But I never had any trouble with traffic.

Only 2 months away now, get in while you can for the track, and even if you can't, come for the hard park on the day, should be a good one.

Hey all.
I really enjoyed this even last year! It was good it was restricted to just clubs. And the track was actually quite clear. Compared to the likes of Chrome etc. It was great to have some room to use the whole corner and race your friends. I had a fun fee battles with Wardy and Ivor!!
Unfortunately with life and my blue car off the road I may not be able to make this one. If I can wing it, it will just be in the rust bucket SW and hard park only. But I will organise a quick run there also!

I'm sure you won't be the only MR2 on the track. I'll try come for at least the hard park. But I don't think my fun car will be ready for the track in time unfortunately

So, even though I'm pretty sure I was the only MR2 here on the day, it was still very enjoyable. I ended up spending most of my time hanging with Tauranga Evolution and was so fun. Hopefully next year there will be more than just me going , here's the pics from the day, so far.
