Mr-Paulio wrote:Well, I don't really know how to drive met service. But my weather app still doesn't look good. Especially not for these roads!
Any met service gurus like to chime in? I'm thinking it might be best to postpone?? :|
If I was still the AC I would postpone too Paul. There is a chance it may fine up and folk become disappointed but as AC you need to take that on the chin on occasion. The forecasts suggest we're in for just enough rain to make fast cornering a bit dangerous, and any rain will put off AW owners due to the poor pre-'90 rust protection, and besides, nobody likes being dripped on by a leaky T-top.

My main thought was always that we have a lot more fun if it's dry as we can really go for it through the corners, whereas I have seen a number of cars on runs come unstuck in the damp over the years, and that's a safety concern. Not everyone has good tyres and not everyone has the same skill level, so as AC you need to always think "safety first and fun second".

That was always my angle anyway mate.

As for the forecast, I tend to go by these two sites and they are usually pretty accurate:

https://www.metservice.com/maps-radar/r ... cast-3-day

Which tomorrow looks just damp enough to be a nuisance:

That bring us to the question of postponement, at which point I tend to look at the 10-day on Metvuw:

http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast ... oofdays=10

Their forecasts are a little less detailed but are great for looking ahead a week or so.
Here you can see they forecast some light rain for tomorrow - just enough to stuff up the fun on the twisties:

Whereas they reckon next Sunday will be absolutely brilliant. No wind and bone dry:

Anyway I hope my 5 cents' worth is of some help especially regards the Metservice etc. :)

The oil catch cans are in, but not yet tested.
The front bumper is still off.
With the ride postponed I can finish it all up without rush.
Great 8)
Sorry to hear some folks can't make it though

Yes indeed Charlie, these roads need to be enjoyed at high speed. Also the views will be far better on a sunny day! Next Sunday looks good from what I can see on my app also. You just never know that far out aye.

Ivor, hope you get it all sorted in time! And I just hope I dont slow you down!! Haha

Other trusty rain indicators include:

 Mare's tails a day or two earlier (high altitude ice crystals that seed the rain-clouds).
 Ants getting extra busy (stocking up and preparing to hole up).
 My right knee hurting like a bastard (old hunting injury, fell down a hole on top of Mt Richmond while walking through snow-grass about 25 years ago).

Roll on Sunday!
