You got "Ta(rga)" make this club run! (NOW)May 26th Hunua Ranges, Auck

Post by Mr-Paulio »

Hey MR2 and adrenilin enthusiasts!!

I'm planning another south Auckland club run. Through the twisties and open country roads of rural South Auckland.
(My backyard/stomping ground)

I plan to make this short and sweet.
I know some mean roads, but still putting a new circuit together atm.
The jist for now is we will meet at BP Drury 930am.
10am sharp we leave.
We will smash through a bunch of lonely roads in the Hunua Ranges including a section of road used in the old Taga rally!
Lunch, refreshments and a good o'l chin wag at the Clevedon pub around noon.
From here you can choose to call it a day, if it's all been a bit much for you....
Or follow me back to Drury and the motorway via a few new twisty detours for a bit more added adventure!

Many of you may remember "Mr Paulio's Cross Country tour" last year. I promise this will be +10! :D :D

I hope to get a good turn out and meet some new faces... So lock in the date now!!!

I can't really make any reliable plans as my car is "work in progress" and may happen to be off the road at any time...
But other than that, I'm keen :)
A Westie run in June sounds good, Charlie!

Ha ha, Mike!
It's more of a case of one thing leading to another... I need to have a proper tune as it's currently just on the base map that came with the ecu piggyback. But for that I need a heavy duty clutch as the stock clutch slips.
And there's white smoke from the exhaust on boost so have to figure that out before the tuning, apparently either the crankcase getting pressurized or possibly a problem with the turbo oil return line setup.

Ivor, you will need a catch can. I didn't see your oil return line but it should be at least -10 (I think mine is 5/8") and should be simple, straight and short to get the oil out quickly. If your crank case has too much pressure so will this line limiting the oil returning freely. So I would start with the catch can. Hope this helps :D

Thanks Paul :)
I've got 2 oil catch cans and non return valves already on order. Hoping that should solve my probs.
The oil return line is -10AN. However, the turbo sits quite low and the return line doesn't get much gravity assistance. It also returns into the oil pan approximately in line with the oil level (as it can't go any higher). So, these two things could be contributing factors, too. But they are not easy to solve so fingers x'd the catch cans is all I need!

Bugger. Yeah I am worried about the oil line level into the sump with mine also. Although when the engine is running your oil level isn't up that high. Fingers crossed for the catch cans! Vent to atmosphere also to make sure. They will pull you up if you go for a cert. And possibly (But unlikely) for WOF. But easy to change just to pass then revert back. Keep us updated mate.

My SW's catch can vents to the atmosphere, big-time. (As well as catching a ton of oil).

Park your nose over it when she's idling after a burl and you'll see what I mean... Wheeeew...

Rodney it'll be good to see you on a run again mate! :D

Madaz.

Don't forget to bring a spare set of tyres...
