AKL to Pakiri for Christmas BBQ 22 Dec 2019

Post by mickeyduck »

Hi there! We'll be doing a run to Mike P's caravan at Pakiri for a BYO BBQ on 22nd December.

Route includes SH16, Woodcocks Rd (twice!) and the squiggly wiggly hill-climb stuff nearer Pakiri.

Like the MR2 (clearly invented by some wizard) this run is simply magic!

Image

Not an expensive run but you will need a full tank of gas, BBQ food and sunscreen.

Meet at the usual place near Starbucks at Westgate, 9am Sunday 22 December.

See you there! 8)

100+ MR2OCNZ runs and counting... When going hard, good rubber's your best protection against unwanted accidents. Buy good tyres!
When you're nearing the end of the drag-strip and you have no 'chute, you may as well keep your foot to the floor... Live life. There ain't no second pass.

That's the Communications Officer's responsibility Ivor.

Feel free to give him a nudge.

You're probably logged into Facebook and know what you're doing in there. I'm not, and don't.

People need at least a couple of weeks' notice if you expect them to turn up for a run, so if it's going to get posted on Facebook then yes it needs doing real soon. Or they (and the Club) will miss out. So go hit Simon S up...

I've FB messaged Simon.

Of course if FB users could be bothered looking here once in a while - or alerting each other when they do so - maybe they would get to know about Club events anyway...

:P

I mean hey, if I don't go near Facebook I can hardly grumble if I miss out on stuff that's announced there, can I...?
Like when I missed out on the chance to score a supercharger fitted to the 86 for $5k

Thanks Simon! :D

And if you turn up I'll do my best to ensure you don't go home disappointed.

Excellent!

In fact if Simon does turn up (showing on FB as "interested") let's give him the VIP treatment - he could catch a ride with me on the way to Pakiri and with you on the way back.

That'd give him a taste of Auckland roads and hospitality...

FB is actually quite nice for managing events and is probably the primary way the young owners get MR2 news. I'm just worried about Simon's workload with updating everything, but there isn't a better way, only a different way of getting event makers to help out. I digress, should probably start a separate topic for this if we want to continue

I agree, FB is excellent for spreading the word about an event. As long as you know what you're doing with it, which I don't.

Like I said if one or two FB users glance here once in a while and then spread the word on FB all would be well.

I'm looking to have a good day out on this run, and to try to put a smile on a few other faces like back in the day. I'll do my bit (not that I have any obligation anymore these days) but beyond that, it's up to everyone else to make or break it. Thankfully in the past, it's always been the attendees that have made each event a success, thanks to their great attitudes and super-wide grins. That's what always kept me organising runs back when it was one of my responsibilities (as AC). I got a buzz outta them getting a buzz.

Be there people. Get out and have some fun. And if I see you enjoying yourself I might sort another run for ya... Fair deal?
