Hi all, I'll keep this short and add some more info later

Please cancel all MR2OCNZ events effectively immediately, we are at Level 3, and will be at Level 4 in 48 hours. Please keep safe, keep in contact, and keep working on your cars...

Thank you.

Based on what they are saying, we are not allowed to go out for a drive anyway, so I'd imagine everyone would have had more common sense then to go to a car meet/cruise

As I write this that alert just came through!

Please follow the instructions from the government. Stay put. We're okay to venture out to our driveway and garden, just stay 2M away from the neighbors. Go for a daily 10 or 20 minute walk if you can, while staying that 2M away from everyone (and only physical acknowledgements to others, like a nod, no speaking). Do online shopping if you can, only go out if you can't get what you need online. And make sure all your friends and family are all good!

We're still basically in lockdown, level 3 doesn't appear to mean a whole lot more to our hobbies, just for businesses that couldn't open before

Hopefully it doesn't last long and we'll be back to driving our 2s again! My running one is now out of WoF (just happened to expire during lockdown, right?) and I'm sure many of you will be in similar boats, perhaps it had just expired before the lockdown and you couldn't get it back in, in time

I would recommend that you not take too much advantage of the leeway there is with the Police and Insurance, and get your cars road legal as soon as possible. With any luck I can get mine booked in at Level 2, once I am no longer working from home (my office shares a carpark with a garage, quite handy)

Your ACs will hopefully start getting some events ready when Level 2 does turn up, perhaps they'll give you a bit of time to get your car sorted so you can join in on the fun!

I have just found this https://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/121191 ... nd-cant-do

Interesting to note, it says all WoFs that expired on, or after 1/1/20 will be extended by 6 months. Is that 6 months from 1/1/20, or 6 months from when they expired?

So it might be that the cars are actually road legal, as long as they are physically road worthy (as in, they'd pass a WoF recheck tomorrow). That's interesting to note. I take it this is only a technicality extension and won't show up in the NZTA systems, it's only a thing for Police and Insurance to take into account if required. Again, I imagine you won't be covered if the WoF is expired and the car isn't physically road worthy.

I was lucky enough to get a WOF and couple tyres on rear just before lockdown. Still can’t really go anywhere but nice to have the car ready to roll.
