November 8th Auckland Pizza Run-Waipu Cove

Post by MIKEP »

Ok all what with Covid and illness and broken cars I have been out of action for a while but am now back up fit and healthy with 2 MR2s rearing to go

So heres the deal we cancelled this last year. We are meeting at Westgate at 9.30 and going by Charlies Route to Waipu where we will sample some great Pizza at the Pizza Barn Waipu and then head back . This run was a hoot last time we went and a load of fun> Also a good one to invite a friend to. Don't miss out on this one. For our Whangarei and Northland members great chance to catch up as well

Meet 9.30 at Westgate

Hey Mike, good to hear you are feeling better!

Looking forward to the run but just to prevent confusion the 9th November is a Monday, I assume you mean the 8th?

Sorry Mike, my SW is for sale and my AW I am not confident in its reliability for a drive like that just yet. Also I'm baby sitting my moms damn granddads again! So will have to pass this time unfortunately.

Will need a burger night or something soon to build up confidence in the AW again.

RAINDATE

looks like the weather gods are against us on this one. The forecast is for showers heavy in the afternoon. So at this stage lets make a rain date for
the 22nd November.

Sorry about this guys but no fun in the rain

Hey Mike,

Fair enough, thanks for organising a rain date.

It's looking pretty sunny in Hillsborough where I am, is the call that it's officially postponed?

Appreciate the organisation. Thanks again

Looked alright in Blockhouse Bay where I am too but was raining up North and in Kumeu so I had to make the call Saturday night based on forecast.

Anyway we have a Raindate so hope to see you there

I heard from a neighbor that there were some MR2's at Westgate yesterday even though it was cancelled.

If the 22nd reschedule is still happening, I will try to at least come to the meet up, will keep an eye on this thread.

This issue has unfortunately happened plenty of times before because people don't check the forum every day. And these events are posted on Facebook as well. But none of us AC's have the admin status to update the Facebook event at a moments notice

Suggested improvement there....

We did go ahead with a run on Sunday, it was a bit of a rainy start, but up to Waipu was excellent from about 10:30-2pm. On the way back it was a lil bit wet. It was great to see everyone. No issues at all with anyone on the run, except a couple of us with leaky T-Tops and that I forgot to fill up before I left, leaving to fill up at Wellsford with no 98 available :(

It was successful, with the weather holding for most of the run. The curvy roads were great, and everyone was loving it.

I'll let the Auckland MR2 admins know this, thanks for pointing this out. I did check the forum in the morning, but wasn't sure if it was a call in the morning and see how we go type, or postponed. But I'll definitely pass on the feedback, i agree it could've been organised a bit better on the facebook end.

It doesn't help that it's the younger crew that use facebook, who are also the ones who don't use the forums :(
