MR2 Nationals October 2022-Expressions of Interest

Drag racing and show and shine will be my jam. Not interested in gymkhanas or track time.

Definitely keen and with enough warning I’m happy to travel anywhere in the country. I really enjoyed the road trip up for the last one.

I heard a rumour ....... there is an event to be held in October on the 22nd and 23rd October.

So Its the MR2OCNZ Second Nationals and theres Gymkhana, Show and Shine , Drag Racing,Camping ,Autcross . Runs , Wheel changing contests and a lot more

the MR2 Nationals 2022 will be held at Masterton Motorplex http://www.mastertonmotorplex.co.nz/ on the weekend of 22-23rd October 2022

So we have the Drag strip and the Grass and Pad area at the track end so come and throw your MR2 down the strip and dust off the Garage Queens for the Show and Shine.Get down to the Gym and start buildng up your guns for the whaeel changing competition

Theres GymKhana as well and an Epic Run on Sunday

We are alao offering old school accomodation as well and camping at the track is allowed if Wanted

I'll be going. Probably stay at Copthorne Solway Park. Has a bar and restaurant and is a 3 minute 2.5km drive up the street from Masterton Motorplex. Stayed there 25 years ago when my late fathers car club had their AGM/Rally there that weekend.

Drive up from Christchurch Thursday afternoon/evening. 11am Ferry Friday morning. Head back on the 4pm ferry on Monday.

BREAKING NEWS !! It is with great regret that we announce the 2022 MR2 Nationals is cancelled. We have had only 14 registrations or expressions of interest since we first advertised the event. The sponsors we had on board have chosen to withdraw their support due to the lack of registration. We have expended over 300 hours and a considerable amount of money in trying to make the event happen but due to less than 20 registrations nationwide we have no other choice. The MR2OCNZ will continue to support and arrange regional events and grow and support MR2 owners and members as per the club charter. Thanks to all those that assisted in trying to make this event happen

I have been having problems with the Forum, it won't let me post most of the time, ever since we changed our email address. I know that I am ot the only one having this problem. I am in but I won't be entering any track events; I don't have a suitable car. I am available to help though.

This event has now been cancelled. Only 14 entries we advised so the sponsors and organisers pulled out.
