MR2 Nationals October 2022-Expressions of Interest

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST -MR2 Nationals OCTOBER 2022

Toyota’s new MR2 went on sale in Japan in October 1989 and so its 32 years since it was released..ITs also 38 years since the AW11 was released so what better than to have a "Coming of Age Nationals"

OK heres the plan : We will have a weekend like last the Nationals in 2019 and it will be held at a track as close to central NZ as we can get.

Plan is a full on Track Day some Gymkhana, Drag Racing and a Show and Shine with plenty of time for Meeting others ,hanging and yarns etc.

At this stage I am talking to 3 tracks and looking at the Weekend of the 16 -17 October 2022

Let me know if your interested or any opinion and you might even get roped in to help

I should have my AW back on the road by then

I might have my turbo swap done. Probably not... 😂🤣 But I'm keen!

If it's manfield maybe we can get a motorsport club to setup the back half of the track for the autocross events they do. Probably need a day licensed to enter though.

Of course, the sooner we can get a confirmation as well the better, I'm absolutely sure we can at least get close to 2019 numbers although Covid might have hurt some MR2 owners financially or maybe it created some new eager owners and we'll have even more, although it is some time away and lots of time to prep
Let me know if I can be of any help
South Island might be a push for me personally, but North Island I can definitely do, although again with the time till it happens I'm sure SI wouldn't be an issue. And it would be good to get an event down there. Whatever happens will work out

Depending on where its held and costs involved I'd be in as well. Love the open format of having track to ourselves as this is not available elsewhere.

Keen for an event but we don't have a lot to spend out of the MR2 account so would need sponsorship or be mainly self covering.

Exactly Gaz and i understand that > I am trying for full sponsership and making it self funding. Trying not to make it cost the club anything. Will depend on numbers but looking ok

Events like this seem to trigger people to complete those projects which have been sitting around for awhile. Good to have a deadline!
Might have to blow the cobwebs & pine needles off mine and take for a spin. Haven't really driven much since the Manfield trip which I racked up over 2,000km's.
