New update seems fine to me charlie only complant is on phones theres no time or date under the topics so will need to open every main one to see if there has been a new post. Which uses data if not in a wifi area

If we could change that then i have no problems

Hmmm. I don't have a huge amount of control over the mobile styling. I'm not a web developer...

On another note, two things:

1) The server this forum runs on is an 8 year old Mac at my house. While I do have measures in place to ensure its reliability and suchlike, it is getting a bit long in the tooth. So I have built an Ubuntu Linux virtual machine up on Rackspace's cloud in Sydney and intend on moving the forum there. I'll have to take the forum offline for a bit to accomplish this so don't be surprised if it's unavailable for a wee bit sometime soon.

2) Committee have approved the idea that we invest some club funds in further improving our online membership database / joinup system. So I'll be investigating that after I go back to work. At present there's still a lot of manual work needs doing by the Membership Officer and things can go a bit awry on occasion if people don't furnish all the necessary info when they join or rejoin, so the aim is basically to make it much easier for the members as well as for the Membership Officer.

OK I've moved the site, forum and gallery to Rackspace this morning. Ran into a couple of redirect hiccups but other than that I think it's all gone ok...

So now the forum has a new 127.0.0.1

Let me know if you spot anything wrong folks. Cheers

I've had to log in every time I go into forum using an iPone 5s. This is even after ticking remember me box.

Apologies folks.

Turns out the email notifications that the forum sends if you get a PM etc have been broken since the move to Rackspace.

My mail server had decided it was no longer on speaking terms with the forum seeing as it had left home and moved over to Oz. :P

I've fixed it. Now when the forum says "helo" the mail server listens.

Thanks to Malcolm for telling me it was broken. 8)

I hadn't noticed as I check my PM's on the forum nearly every day anyway, and only wade through the hundreds of emails I get once in a while (way too much email)

Having got a bit of a fright recently thanks to some pretty silly stuff, I've just finished adding another layer of backup etc on my Rackspace server.

In a nutshell, last weekend I made a clone of the site etc - which actually consists of several "sites" all stitched together - so that we'd have a dev copy cos I need to get some stuff done for the online membership system.

Turned out to be a bit tangled, the way some things hook into others. Would make it too hard to make the dev changes go live later, so I blitzed that copy and will do it a different way.

Unfortunately the tangled way that certain things go together meant I ended up breaking the Gallery...

Today I fixed that, and decided I needed a more fine-grained way of rolling things back if they go wrong.

It's easy to roll back a whole system, but can be MUCH harder to roll back just a weeny piece of it without breaking other bits!

Another Saturday out the window, LOL.

Anyway... time to hit the hay.
