Most certainly! Anyone done a write up yet on the process?

EDIT: Oh right I get what you mean by sills, but I thought those were a no no except to scissor jacks as they bend? Am I okay doing them with axle stands for long periods of time for the front and back?
As long as you put it in the right place along the sills it will be fine, the 'tabbed' bits are where the other structural members are joined to the sills, as opposed to the middle of the door for instance where there is nothing else supporting the sill.

As far as aircon goes it should be fairly straight forward. I got the condenser out with the bumper on the car (the big panel infront of the radiator) so it should be a breeze to take out with the bumper off. All the lines that run underneath the car are just above the plastic panels, so fairly easy to remove with a bit of time. Just follow the lines around the car and unbolt their mounts and anything they attach to. The accumulator should be under the passengers side headlight. and just unbolt the pipes from the bulk head. If you want to get really extreme you could pull the a/c stuff out of the heater, but if you dont know what you are doing its probably easier to just go do some exercise before driving to save the same amount of weight.

MR2 is slowly coming together, Chewy is coming around tomorrow to see the 2 for the first time and give me a hand with a couple things (putting stock exhaust on and inserting bilstein struts so to speak). Have also purchased ebc yellow stuff brake pads, and a few other bits and pieces which anyone can see when I next bring it on a run.

Image
In the process of rebuilding the calipers, gave them a splash of paint whilst doing so.

Image
New front strut bar and MC stopper

Image
New poddy, rear strut bar and some new spark plugs which weren't the easiest to install!

Image
Nearly all the brand new stuff came with stickers, so I've sticker bombed the front, rear and back quarter windows. Looks a bit ridiculous now. Looks like a race car!

Looks great. Where did you get the front strut brace from? Id ask about the master cylinder stopper but looks like it wont fit with ABS.

Funny you should mention this, I was looking at doing a test fit of a 'prototype' here this weekend. Might let you know how it goes :)

It may not as the stopper sits quite low down. I got the strut bar here http://www.pro-wholesale.co.nz/

Long time no update! First of all, thanks to Chewy and Colin, the car got to a point where I could drive it with the new shocks and brakes. Thanks very very much you two!

I took it for a wof, and it failed on very minor things (bulbs and leaky exhaust which I was aware of, it also picked up the tint banner which I've removed and the washer bucket was leaking! Fixed)

I'm about to take it for it's recheck which is will pass, then I get it registered and then it's Manfield May 25th! It doesn't look any different atm, as paint will be coming next month. I'll get some photos up of the track day if any are taken. It's been a long road!

I was going to paint it... but I really can't be bothered. It's kind of growing on me....

I'm buying a wrecked de reg GT off Tvis this weekend. Dropping the subframe out and having the engine and box sitting in my garage so I can do big jobs, clutch belts alternator starter motor to name a few. Make it like a brand new engine!

How much do you plan to do with engine/trans before installing in your car? Its always a fine line on either upgrading everything or following the philophy of not fixing what isn't broke. Helps if the new plant has some known history behind it.

It does need a new cambelt, so I'll do that and the water pump. Not too sure on the clutch but I'd prefer to get that done when it's out. I agree however I can't see any harm following doing most of the maintenance items while it's out.

Often its just a cost thing to decided on to replace or not. I generally decided if it was working fine before and still had 2+ years life left then I'd leave alone. Also if it can be repaired while engine in car then I'd leave as well. Only excepetions were the HFH and HFHOE.

Mind explaining those? And yeah I'm not in any rush and I'd prefer to do it all once properly then rush it and cut costs and have to re visit. In saying that, I have da connections cuzzybru so to speak, I'm not expecting to be paying RRP for all the parts and/or labour, which does help in completing all the jobs needed!
