Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
I got mine of trademe for $100. I always liked alpine. RRP is $250. The pioneer stuff looks good and starts at around $170 if you want new.
Heres a picture. The weird angle means the cable sits differently and gives it a shorter throw. Hopefully its not going to damage the cable.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Interesting. What car is the 3SGE lever off? Or is it modified? It doesn't look like the 89-91 OR the 92-99 lever. The top one looks like a 1990 though.
I see what you mean about the mount being in a different position to make for a shorter shift throw. Might pay to add a drop plate in to realign the cable so you don't wear it out or snap it.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
It looks OEM in the way it's built but I've not seen one like that. It's good it makes it feel better.
A drop plate will just move the whole lot down, it shouldn't affect the feel much if at all as you are not changing the cable mount points to the lever. It will just align the cable with the outer making it slide better.

I guess this mounts under then main frame then and just lowerers the whole lever? That sounds like a good idea.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Yeah it goes between the ball mount and the main plate. CJ has done a good write up on this. The blue plate is the drop plate.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
I got a nylon drop plate from one of the US forum members. He sent for about $10US/ delivered. Helped to go through the linkage like CJ did and grease all moving parts.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Since the last post, my leads arrived and work well.
I also have a short shifter kit to install.
AVCR is finished and setup complete: I have since bought a 92 GTS with no warrant and an alternator problem. I hope to fix this up to sell and swap over some upgrades for myself.
So far I have swapped over the intercooler and air intake setup. THis also came with a HKS SSQV currently setup to vent to atmosphere. I do have the piping to recirculate back into the intake, but for now it runs and sounds good.
I plan to also swap the coilovers onto my GT.
Here is a current shot of the engine bay. The BOV mount could be improved. I have a catch can to install too.

Next on the list when the white one is finished:
- Wideband AFR Gauge. probably the AEM.
- 17" wheels with some good tires.

Re: My 1990 MR2 GT
Coilovers are now installed and setup.
I damaged a brake-line while cutting the lines out from the old shocks. A set of braided lines and DOT 5.1 fluid are on order for an upgrade and flush. Will bleed the clutch too..
I have set of kouki lights to install. A friend had some carbon fibre wrap left over, so we wrapped the centre piece ready to install
I was lucky to snap this photo on a cheeky detour home one evening.
