For all you Auckland and Waikato MR2sters coming to the AGM we have something different this year .The venue is

Auckland Adventure Park , 2104 East Coast Road Silverdale
www.Aucklandadventurepark.co.nz
In the meeting room there at 4.00 (refreshments will be provided by Area 51 Cafe at the park)
Date Saturday 27/03/2021
So we will take a quick run up there and hopefully Charlie or Ivan will know a cool back way to get there . Can you let me know guys

Run details to follow or if you want just turn up for some fun

While you are there you might like to try Lugeing on the 600metre track or vertical bungy-Get fired into the air at a maximum of 4G or Ziplining on the 270 metre overhead wire or the tubeslide or even the 4D cinema.

Admission to the park will be free for you you can just pay for any activites you do

Sorry Mike, all the fun roads that I know about are further out than that. There are a few nice twisties but they are either gravel or have become infested with MAMILs and thus can only be traversed at the speed of lycra, as ordained by Them On High.

Five or ten years ago I would have met at Westgate (we really should start calling it "Wastegate") and gone Fred Taylor Drive > Coatsville-Riverhead Hwy > Ridge Rd > Glenmore Rd > Sunnyside Rd > Green Rd > Dairy Flat Hwy > Orewa > Hatfields Beach > SH1 > Woodcocks Rd > SH16 > Kahikatea Flat Rd > Waitoki Rd > Whitehills Rd > Kahikatea Flat Rd (a few metres) > Pine Valley Rd > left onto 17 for a sec then straight through the Silverdale interchange > East Coast Rd and there you are.

You can try it but be warned, the plague of MAMILs means you may be bored silly for at least half the journey. Since what was once 100kmh became 80 then 60 (most of my favourite roads around Auckland) I've concluded that the only way to really enjoy an MR2 anymore is either go 100km out of town to find a decent back road, or just be done with it and vacate the place altogether (many do... funny that...). Other benefits include lesser levels of lockdown. :P And being able to wash your car or water the garden in summer.

I won't be attending the AGM mate as that's Michelle's birthday and last year our plans went sour on account of Level 4 lockdown, bah!
But I'm sure Ivor or Ivan will have fun leading a run if they are into it. Enjoy!

Sorry for the slack meeting/motel location in Welly, the motel/conference center I emailed two weeks back has changed owners it seems over that period and never got my email - I am back from being down south and am making calls to get this sorted today or tomorrow, can then post up the Lower North area location!!

Right, Wellington is sorted. Unfortunately I was unable to find a location that could host both accommodation and a conference location at the same place. There seems to be a lot of events going on at around the same time - being overly ignorant that I am, is there a reason the Charter specifies March for the AGM? Basing it around another event, within the financial year may make more sense into the future. Just a thought, we can talk about that at the AGM if required.

We are meeting at the Waikanae Memorial Hall from Saturday 3pm 27/03/21, for the 4pm start to the meeting. We only have this location till 7pm, this should be ample time.
The address is 3-5 Pehi Kupa St, Waikanae. We will be upstairs on the Mezzanine Floor.
There is no internet here however I am able to provide two Mobile Hotspots if required, we will have internet for the Zoom call.

There is plenty of parking here at the hall, however it is walking distance from these two motels:
Ariki Lodge Motel, 4 Omahi Street, Waikanae, 0800 800 578 - https://www.arikilodgemotel.co.nz/
Kapiti Gateway Motel, 114 Main Road, Waikanae, 0800 429 360 - https://www.kapitigateway.co.nz/

Unfortunately, there is massive demand in Kapiti presently, apparently half of all motels are being used as emergency accommodation. Housing crisis really hitting hard. So I was unable to organise a discount, although booking direct via the websites seems to give you 10% off from both motels above. Booking is VERY limited. Please book immediately if you are thinking of staying the night. If they are booked out, there is another motel down Waikanae Beach, and more in both Otaki and Paraparaumu

I will sort out some drinks and snacks, however I think the easiest course of action is for us to meet at The Salt and Wood, 11 Ngaio Road, Waikanae, after the AGM for some dinner and beers. We'll start arriving there at 630-7pm. This is also walking distance to the two above motels, and from the AGM meeting location

I will be staying down the road in Waikanae Beach and will hang around until people start dosing off - the Salt and Wood will accommodate us until late

The morning after, Sunday 28th March, we should meet at Southwards Car Museum, it doesn't seem to give an exact address but it's on Otaihanga Road, Otaihanga - if you google maps Southwards Car Museum, you'll find it. Lets meet there from 10am, it is a $25 entry fee but well worth it to see some historically important cars

After that, we'll see how everyone is feeling, but can definitely put on a drive and lunch after that as well

Sorry that's a bit of a mess, it is the best I could do, with limited options. We'll do our best to work on something very special for 2022, if I am not booted out next month

Be good to see everyone there, even those virtually on the Zoom meeting.

Hi team

Many apologies for the lateness of the Agenda here. I am still finding my feet in this position and having never held anything similar even in a workplace environment, I am doing my best! I do not want people to hold grudges or to feel like there is a lack of action or work being done, please, PM me directly or email me [email protected] if you have any concerns or questions at all. Those who know me know I'm an open book, I'm always open to discussion, criticism, whatever it is, I won't blow it off, I'll take it seriously and try and improve. The previous incumbents have been helping guide me as well. I really appreciate it!

It has not been actively mentioned (my bad) but we welcome all nominations for all executive and committee (AC) positions. Those who currently hold positions have not indicated to me they want to leave them, but this is not to say their positions are definite, if you want to put your hand up for a position, please do and we'll vote on that. As long as people are happy enough with each of our positions, we'll most likely keep them for the foreseeable future. I myself am happy to keep the president's title, although because of previous work done by some big names, the club works a lot smoother than ever (can also thank the internet for that) and means we can really focus on getting that value for members (that has not happened in 2020, I know some members, myself included, were mentally distracted heavily.)

We are working with 3 locations this AGM on some laptops, so making sure each meeting hears what is going on is very important. It might be good if someone from each location, close to the laptop can also jot down the basic gist of what is going on and we can get each location to individually relay this information if people further away from the laptops didn't hear. We'll also need to be sure that we all get our say, although we in the Lower North only have our venue from 3pm to 7pm so we'll have to tie things up quick fast if things go on for too long. As above, me and the full exec/committee are open books and any issues raised at any time can be looked into. We also love ideas if you have any, and if anyone wants to volunteer any time to help us find new opportunities or find ways to do certain types of interesting merch/events, please, let us know!!

I do think as our cars get rarer and the members become even longer standing, the club will wrap around these members and new members who will quickly understand and become the awesome type of people we are (I think this is already basically happening). We're not currently at the stage where we need to actively invite appreciators (non owners) into the club to bump up numbers, and we can continue to put on at least bi-annual(ish) big events (with the right planning, again, last year was a write off for any of that). Maybe Toyota will give us a new, 4th MR2... who knows. I'm ranting at this point

The AGM is now 2 weeks away. So we'll see you all there!

Edit: Bottom of the Pres report got cut off, not sure what happened there!

Hello All remember our AGM is at the Auckland Adventure Park 2104 East Coast Road, Silverdale 0993 | Phone: 09 426 5555. We have the meeting room booked for 4.pm . So the deal is the park will let you in to the park and cafe and meeting area and you will have dedicated parking.

If you arrive early you might like to Luge or Zipline or take advantage of the other activities. For the rides you will be responsible for those.
